About Us

Charisma Movement is a youth-formed, youth-run and youth-led charity organization. Our team consists of passionate Malaysian youths working together from around the world. Charisma Movement aims to continue flourishing as a self-sustaining non-profit organization committed to combating global issues, one volunteering project at a time. We also hope to preserve our efforts in expanding Charisma Movement’s alumni network, increasing our outreach to Malaysian students interested in making a difference. Initially, our projects were focused on education and development, but in recent years, this has expanded to include environmental conservation and health awareness.

According to a UNICEF study in 2019, almost 1 in 4 children in Sabah had never attended schools. It is said that the barriers prior to this fact are inaccessible education and poor resources for Alternative Learning Centers (ALCs) offered by NGOs, community and faith-based groups. Malaysia invested 20% of its annual budget on education which was the largest fraction among the sectors that year. Yet, these funds are not evenly distributed, leading to the children of rural areas susceptible to poor education standards and lack of access to basic school materials.

Project Anak Malaysia 2021 #SuaraPedalaman

#SuaraPedalaman is one of Charisma Movement’s new projects as an alternative to Charisma Movement’s flagship project, Projek Anak Malaysia. Projek Anak Malaysia consists of volunteers covering various aspects of education with emphasis being placed on the English Language and Mathematics, as well as the importance of health and hygiene specifically for standard 6 students who are about to sit their UPSR examinations. Charisma Movement has been working with 3 schools in Kota Marudu, Sabah which include SK Temuno-Teringai Darat, SK Tumunda Salimandut and SK Samparita.

It is an alternative project due to the pandemic as it does not permit us to physically volunteer and assist the students in Kota Marudu, Sabah. The objective of this project is to be a voice for them via Charisma Movement’s alumni by promoting this project to their friends, families and virtual platforms

What Impacts will you Create?

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, maintaining stable monthly income has been a huge challenge for many. Adequate basic necessities are key to supporting students in Sabah and their families, before we could extend our efforts in eradicating education inequality.

All proceeds will be used to purchase basic necessities for 60 families from 3 schools that we have been working with in Sabah: SK Temuno-Teringai, SK Samparita, and SK Tumunda Salimandut. We hope you can help us with our venture!
