Being an IT student myself I've seen many student suffering without a laptop. Some have to work everyday while studying to pay for their rent or food and still unable to purchase a laptop. Children on the other hand are unable to work and can't purchase a laptop for their education needs due to their financial issue. Thus, I joined AIESEC's Speak Up program hoping for a change that not even one student would be left out as a minority because each and every student has the right to study!

It's funny how a normal person like me would end up typing this message to the public. I was that person who SEEN those donation pages, WANTED to help out, but FEEL that I'm too broke to make differences. The mindset of "my small amount of donation will not make any differences" has won over my generous heart that has the eagerness to contribute to those needy. Yes, I admit that I am kind of selfish or greedy. But if you were me, would you also hesitate? This is my first time joining AIESEC (a Non-government organization) as one of the local virtual volunteer. I was assigned to 3 high schooler from Pahang and since then, they brighten my mind. At first, I thought that students would be like "Ah, I'm forced to come, please don't call my name, leave me alone." But, it turns out that, they were more energetic, cheerful than I expected. I can see their keenness to move forward, their thirst to learn new things, and their desire to improve themselves by actively engage in the Winter Speak Up Project. I know that I can see potential in them. However, the issues are: How many people realizes their potential and their desire? Who give them chances to flourish in the education field? Where can they find hope to continue striving if there are limitation in education? Are they the chosen one, or are we the chosen one? Here, I'm fundraising under the Speak Up Project organized by AIESEC Taylor's University. Our objectives are to build confidence and explore leadership in students, to teach them the STEM technical skills, and to reach the charity goal of RM10,000 in order to give those underprivileged students (B40 students) a laptop each. I hope that the person reading this could donate for the B40 students. Appreciate it, and wish you a best of luck in everything.

I came to join "Speak Up" because I have always love to involve and helping school children in any way possible. Not just to guide them but to lessen the gap between students in different stages of learning. During my time in primary school, I always wanted to engage with students in tertiary level. To make friends and to see what is real life on their point of view especially on education. 'Speak Up' reminds me to stay connected to education industry and get to know secondary students on their level of thinking, how their mind works when dealing with problems or how to deal with them in general. Keeping in touch with all generations could teach us a thing or two in knowing how the real world and real people works. I lost my father during pandemic, in 2020. I lost myself for a moment trying to switch my thoughts on dealing with lost and grief. As what he thought me to always do good and always help people in need. Hence, that is why I am here. To continue my father's legacy on doing good deeds to everyone, especially towards students, children that are in dire need of good support system. Let us band together and support this good cause. Give them a proper tools to learn.

It is quite surprising that a large number of students in Malaysia do not possess a smartphone or any sort of gadget for themselves especially now in an age where technology is thriving. I personally succumbed to online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic and I know how difficult it is to cope with studies just sitting in front of a screen and sometimes, students shy away from engaging in class and understanding topics completely. I can only imagine the difficulty of students with no devices to merely attend a class. Malaysia is vastly evolving into a better nation day by day but we should not forget about our children. They are the future and we need to ensure that they receive the right education. We can do this by helping them create a path to reach out to their educators and engage in class activities. Let's come together and help these students in need to lay out a better path for their future.

There’s a boy in my neighborhood that I seldom meet, once I asked how his SPM preparation was going and he said he had not been studying for the past 7 months because he didn't have a device to attend online classes with. This had truly made me reflect on the opportunities I have been presented in life and what I should be doing next to help my community better. Thus, the reason why I joined AIESAC’s Speak Up. The project's goal is to educate students, particularly those from the B40 community and raise funds to get them laptops for school. My fundraising online page intends to raise RM1000 to support AIESAC for their continuous efforts to provide a better education system to the youths. I believe everyone deserves a quality education, so join me in this so that we don’t have to see another student lose their future.

Lately, for students who were effected by the flooding too have lost many treasured items. Therefore, through this project we are hoping to help students who struggle more with no laptop or smartphones to attend their virtual classes. #GetThemLaptops - an initiative launched by AIESEC in Taylor's University to gather funds for the purchase of laptops to B40 students.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to view this website. I'm Hui Ling, and I'm currently participating in AIESEC's Speak Up Project, where we're gathering funds to purchase laptops for B40 students. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is compelled to stay at home, which makes it difficult for some groups of people. Since everything is now done online, an electronic device is a must-have item. E-learning is increasingly widely employed in schools, yet some pupils may not have access to an electronic device for e-learning. Furthermore, a laptop generally costs more than a thousand ringgit, which may be out of reach for others. Therefore, it would be great if you could contribute some. For your information, I would also challenge myself to a one-minute plank challenge for every RM10 donated. Lastly, with each donation we receive, we become all that much closer to our target. Thank you for making a difference.

In order to spend my holiday meaningfully, I decided to join this ‘Speak Up’ virtual volunteering project before I graduate from my university, to contribute a little bit to those who are in need. Personally, I think I am a lucky kid living in a privileged family that my parents were able to afford most of my needs and wants. I am able to have a conducive learning environment and anything that is the best for my development along my growth journey. I always appreciate all I have so I wish to do something also to share my love to the underprivileged students. It might not be a big impact and only a very small amount of underprivileged students are covered, but small changes can make a big difference ❤️ ———Update———THANK YOU SO MUCH to all the kind souls that I was able to reach and even beyond my initial target of RM500 in the first week!! ❤️🥺 So I decided to raise my target to RM1500 and try my best to raise as much as I could ;)

According to The New Straits Times (NST) in April 2020, Almost 40% of students nationwide do not own an electronic device. This is however the sad reality, where students have to use their parents' phone/tablet/laptop for their studies; particularly the poor who can barely afford to buy a smartphone. Although this piece of news is now 2 years old, there are still many individuals who don't have a proper device (for example, a smartphone with a small screen and a battery that easily dies in an hour) or do not own any devices at all. Besides, after the recent flood, which affected many lives. Many students have lost their belongings including their phones and laptops. Therefore, this fundraiser also aims to help them as well; especially those who can no longer afford to buy another device. Hence, let us help others, just like how we love getting help from others. In fact, let us do our part, to ensure students have a good quality education. Like Nelson Mandela once said: "There can be no greater gift than that of giving one's time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return".Ps: If this fundraiser achieves or has exceeded its target goal of RM 2000, I will record myself speaking French for 24 hours in Kuala Lumpur.

Due to the pandemic, I have seen many underprivileged students skip their classes simply because they do not own a laptop. I understand that people will argue saying young students all have their own personal handphones. But let me ask you a question: Can you just sit in front of your phone for 5 hours a day looking at that tiny screen of yours? It is very hard for a student to use their phones to attend their classes, I can say this because I too am a student. So why use a laptop?  Laptops enable students to access all the materials they may need, including classroom notes, journal articles, online research, or software for creating videos, slide shows, or other items they may need for a presentation. Assignments can also be completed online, and in situations such as the one we have faced recently with the lockdown, even tuition can be provided to students online.

Hi. I'm Ng Yi Jing, an undergraduate student at Taylor's University. I'm participating in Speak Up project organized by AIESEC Malaysia. During this COVID-19 pandemic, courses delivered in student-centered learning methods were immediately moved to full E-learning. A laptop has become a need for students. However, many underprivileged children couldn't even afford a well-functioning laptop. Then, the flood that happened recently makes the situation even worst. I can't imagine how many challenges these children will face while learning remotely. So, we have this project to support schools, help students to meet their educational needsWhile we are actively seeking more solutions, we need your help to make our efforts go even further! If you’re able, we’d love it if you could make a donation to help us achieve our mission and help these students to get through tough times. Thank you in advance for your contribution. You have no idea how much it means to me to have your support.

Hey, people out there! I'm Tyan Jia, currently participating SpeakUp program held by AIESEC Malaysia. The arrival of COVID-19 had made a big change for most of us. We have to stay at home to avoid physical interaction. So, our daily life had become virtual and the laptop is an essential device to continue our studies and/or jobs. During the pandemic, my laptop is just like my classmate. It company me to attend class, help me to submit the paper, and also search for the answers (I mean doing the research). Try to imagine failing some important exam because your family financially can't afford to buy a laptop for you to attend class. Hence, we are conducting this fundraising event to buy laptops for B40 students, as we all know, how important a laptop is to a student during a pandemic. So, let's fundraise for those kids and help them get through these difficult times.

Online learning has been adopted by schools during the trying times of Covid. Making the shift was a financial difficulty for many and it has become an even greater burden after one of Malaysia's worst floods. I am fortunate enough that I could not imagine the mental and physical strain that victims of the current events are facing. It made me stop and think of the benefits that sit right in front of me everyday. Most of my life is stored in my laptop; my daily schedule, educational opportunities, personal accomplishments and history. All proceeds will go to helping children rebuild their lives through crowdfunding laptops.  Help me become a better person physically as well! For every RM 25, I will eat a boiled egg on IG live and run 1 km for every 100 RM. These will be accumulated for me to do at the start of the following week. When the body is healthy, so is the mind. You will be a nutritionist, exercise coach and therapist!! For your act of kindness, you will also receive a digital PNG of a flower I drew (picture based on amount; see picture).

Therefore, I have decided to provide a hand of support by joining this program, and I would also love to see y'all hopping in. The purpose of the Winter 2021 Speak Up Project is to inspire students with the skills and knowledge to pursue their interests and education, specifically in the area of strengthening STEM skills and English speaking skills. A laptop or a mobile device is essential for education and growth, especially now during the era of Covid and online classes. By donating to this cause, we will be able to provide opportunities to students who don't have the luxury of a laptop of their own and would aid in sustaining the Speak Up Project. Additionally, other alternatives for laptops are being looked into through AIESEC and collaborations through Taylor's University!
