The Fred Hollows Foundation

Activities
Four out of five people who are blind don’t need to be. Often this is simply a result of poor access to quality, affordable eye health care. The Fred Hollows Foundation can restore sight for as little as HK$150 and since its inception in 1993, has restored sight to more than 2 million people – often with a simple, 20 minute operation. We work in partnership with local stakeholders to build their own capacity across 26 countries throughout Asia, Africa & Australia.

Background
Inspired by the work of the late Professor Fred Hollows, a renowned eye doctor and skilled surgeon, The Fred Hollows Foundation is one of Australia’s most well respected and fastest growing international development organisations. We have an ambitious growth plan that aims to realise our vision of ending avoidable blindness with our new Hong Kong operation serving as a vital hub to supporting our sight-saving programs in mainland China and the region.
