For my upcoming 25X2 birthday, I'm taking a playful childhood joke and turning it into reality. I've always had low-key celebrations; this year, I'm throwing a small McDonald's party to celebrate with friends I've known before the age of 25. Though gift-giving is a big part of a b'day party, I invite my guests (& those who will celebrate my b’day over more intimate meals) to share their generosity by donating to Crossroads Foundation, a humanitarian organization that needs to relocate to carry on their impactful work. Let's create great memories while making a positive change in the world!

The NGO Terre des Anges has a computer center and children from nearby schools come to make photocopies center, to our amazement, many children have uniforms that have torn pants, so we approached the directors of these three schools to find out what it was about what the concern is and then it was brought to our attention that due to the lack of toilets, the students are going to the bush to relieve themselves which is why we are asking for your support to meet the challenges of its school establishment. our website: https://terredesanges.e-monsite.com/Thank you for your generosity.

Limited and Crossroads Foundation have been working together since 2021 to promote and support caring and sustainable communities.Crossroads Foundation is a Hong Kong based, non-profit organisation serving global need, staffed entirely by volunteers. Crossroads started in 1995 and believes that, in a broken world that sees too much suffering, they should do all they can to connect people who are in need with those who can provide help. As well as collecting and redistributing donated goods, they offer experiential simulations on issues like refugees, urban poverty and disability, advocate fair trade through their shop and café, and help companies find non-profit projects to partner on. I'll be taking part in the Global Survivor 24-hour simulation run by the Crossroads Foundation in Hong Kong on 3-4 March. During the simulation, "participants briefly step ‘into the shoes’ of those who face the challenges of war, poverty, homelessness, corruption and other global needs. As well as the simulations, the event provides opportunity to explore high-level, cross-sector strategies to bring possible solutions to these challenges." Please support with a donation if you can, thanks.

On March 3-4, I will live in a slum for 24 hours to experience what amounts to everyday life for millions of people around the world. The event is called Global Survivor. It is organised by Crossroads Foundation, a Hong Kong-based organisation, which believes that:"in a broken world that sees too much suffering, we should do all we can to link those who are in need with those who can provide help".Some of those who have gone through the simulation before me have referred to it as "life changing". Crossroads has done this for many years in Hong Kong and beyond, including at Davos: https://www.crossroads.org.hk/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/cnn-davos-2015-small.mp4

Believing is Seeing is a project led by Patrick Xu (a 13-year-old student from Canadian International School of Hong Kong) to eventually assist children around the world with the needs that they're lacking. Our current focus is on aiding the fairly unknown groups of children in Hong Kong suffering from a lack of education, especially amidst the knowledge-debilitating COVID-19 pandemic. When we found out about these children, we knew we had to do something in order to get them back to school as actions speak louder than words. Hence, we started collaborating with the NGO Crossroads to aid as many children as possible! If you would like to find out more, go to www.believingisseeingworld.com

So, you will all know that Alan spent nearly ten years working as a volunteer in Hong Kong for Crossroads and the organisation and the wonderful people that are still there today have become very close to our hearts.Crossroads is a non-profit organisation based in Hong Kong, and is active in supporting the needs of the poor and vulnerable in Hong Kong and around the world. They seek to redistribute unwanted and excess goods from donors to recipients. Many of these donations involve shipments from HK to other countries and since the pandemic the delivery costs have grown enormously. You can find out all about Crossroads here https://www.crossroads.org.hk/about/As we come to this special year for us both - Alan will be 40 in September and Geoff is 70 in November we want to celebrate with all of our friends and relatives. We hope that you will be able to join us for our party on the 3rd September and maybe you will consider joining us in supporting Crossroads as they seek to make an impact on our world for the better.

The UN says that more than 8 million people have fled Ukraine, and 8 million have been internally displaced, this is a fastest population movement since the second World War. We are running to raise awareness for the refugees who are fleeing to safety. For example, many have walked 1,700km+ from Mariupol to Poland, or 750km+ from Kiev to Poland, or Mariupol to Romania - 1,400km+ . With you by our side donating per kilometre, we will run as many kilometres as we can by the 18th of July (that's 10 weeks), and we aim to raise 30,000HKD$, in order for The Crossroads Foundation to ensure refugees receive food, water, shelter, and safety for themselves and their families. Please join us and follow @runningforrefugees where we will update our progress - thank you. We are still running for refugees, please support us by donating! To learn more about what it means to be a refugee, view this short TED talk titled "What does it mean to be a refugee" by Benedetta Berti and Evelien Borgman:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25bwiSikRsI

Read more at www.heathk.orgCast your mind four months back. It's a typical Hong Kong summer afternoon. The sun shines oppressively over the urban jungle, and you feel your body’s moisture and energy being sucked away as your feet start to burn on the tarmac. Where do you go?For most, the answer is simple: home. For many, home represents solace amidst scorching conditions, with air conditioning that reduces the most suffocating summer days to a minor inconvenience. For over 200,000 others, however, home is a metal furnace, confining the worst of the summer heat into poorly air-conditioned (if at all!) cages three times smaller than the city’s jail cells. The impacts of these conditions range from dizziness and nausea, to heat strokes and even seizures.Although winter is coming, summer is too. What’s more, global warming means that each summer will be hotter than the last, which means Hong Kong’s socioeconomically disadvantaged will continue to suffer. With your help, we aim to raise $HKD 130,000, which will go towards the purchase of approximately 2,000 fans for those in need. We have partnered with Crossroads for their extensive experience and global distribution networks. Before selecting our fan models, we conducted extensive market research to ensure our appliances meet international standards in safety, durability and energy efficiency. Furthermore, we tested our fan model prior to approving it for use.Click on the button above to donate, and to do your part to combat one of Hong Kong’s most underlooked issues!

With the donations received to date, we have been able to get the initial work done to get the pens ready, and we have just welcomed three baby goats! Vincent van Goat is a 7 month old boy; Sock and Salva are 4 month old sisters. At Crossroads, we love to showcase ways to help people in need. Goats do just that! As part of a new development that will include a global adventure and education play space for children, we plan to have a goat enclosure that will help highlight just how impactful, and wonderful, goats can be to bring help and income for those in need. Quite amazingly, our site in Tuen Mun (a former barracks) has a disused animal pen. Over the summer months, teams of people have helped clear decades of fallen trees, jungle and vines that had overtaken the animal pens. Although in excellent condition themselves, the pens needed fencing to be repaired, damaged roofs to be replaced, and a new gate installed. Would you like to help us with these expenses? Why Goats?Goats are strategic in helping to reduce poverty across the globe. They are hardy animals and can cope with a wide variety of extreme environments. They are more resilient to drought than other animals, and are much cheaper than cattle. They can breed twice a year, so a goat herd can grow quickly. Being easy to care for, goats are often looked after by children. They provide a family with nutritious milk and helpful fertiliser. Goats give health to a family. Goats give education to a family. They bring hope.Budget: Materials and labour to install new roof: HKD25,000New fencing: HKD27,000New gate: HKD5,000Lighting, improved water access and security camera: HKD1,000Three goats: HKD8,000 (Discounted price)TOTAL: HKD66,000 Anything raised over this amount will be used for goat feed and to help construct the goats’ ‘day pen’ in the play space area.

When we realised that our school year was not going to plan, with our A Levels cancelled, we had a sudden abundance in time. Plus, being quarantined at home we were surrounded by media channels broadcasting the grave impacts of the Corona Virus both locally and internationally. We turned out helplessness and anxiety towards the situation into a plan of action. Because of social distancing friendships and relationships have been strained as people are isolated on a scale like never before. So, we brainstormed ideas on how we can help, and came up with the idea of sending handwritten cards. Since we're in a digital age, receiving mail from each other has become a sort of novelty which we thought would connect people during this difficult time. For 24 hours from 5pm on November 8th, I will get to experience firsthand what life is like in some of the world's darkest places. We have all witnessed poverty in some way or seen tragic images of war-torn countries, but none of that brings us even close to understanding the plight of those struggling for mere survival. The 24-hour Global Survivor simulation program run by the Crossroads Foundation allows one to briefly step into the shoes of those who face the challenges of war, poverty, homelessness, corruption and other global issues. Please support me and make a donation to help ensure the continuation of this amazing program. I've spent the last few years of my working life hearing the stories of refugees from all over the world - Syrians, Iraqis, Eritreans, Congolese, Somalis, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, and the list goes on. The reasons and conditions under which I've heard people flee for their lives have varied, but the consistent elements that I've heard over and over again are the intense fear that motivated people to leave their home countries and the typically harsh and uncertain conditions under which they exist once in exile. After hearing countless refugee narratives, the time has come to put myself in the shoes of a refugee for 24 hours. In September, I'll be participating in Crossroads Global X-perience simulation, which is is intended to expose participants (ordinary, fortunate people like yours truly) to the cold realities of the experience the 70 million refugees who don't get the same option to go home after 24 hours. Crossroads Foundation is a Hong Kong based non-profit organization that focusses on humanitarian assistance and relief. As part of my X-perience, I've set the goal to raise $3000 HKD for Crossroads, in order to support the work that they're doing in Hong Kong and around the world https://www.crossroads.org.hk/global-x-perience/

Ruby and Finlay are very excited to be joining a service trip to Thailand in August with Mum and their friends from Crossroads' staff kids. We will be running activities for children in a couple of homes in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, as well as taking around 200kg of donated goods from Crossroads to give to the children: much needed sports equipment, stationery, clothing and educational toys. These goods will also help a project for refugee children along the border with Myanmar. Funds raised through this website go directly to Crossroads and will cover the cost of flights, accommodation, food and some activities for the orphaned children. Thank you for your support!

Would you like to be a part of this adventure? We can't do it without you! Let us tell you a little more about what we will be doing, and who will be working with. Tutu’s dad was orphaned at the age of 6. In the small village of Northern Thailand, his status as an orphan marked him as cursed by his animist, superstitious neighbors, and he was exiled from the village. A generation later, Tutu and her siblings knew poverty personally and daily. Their family lived meal to meal, hand to mouth. When Tutu was still young, though, a school opened in a nearby village and she began to study English. The school options ceased after Grade 9, however, so she returned to working in the village. She stayed there for a decade. An opportunity then opened for Tutu to move to Chiang Mai where she finished school and then university. Upon graduation, Tutu returned to her village hill-tribe with a fervent heart to make a difference in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children, those just like her father. Today, she leads an all hill-tribe staff that cares for 320 children across 14 children’s homes in northern Thailand. She has also started 3 schools and 3 orphanages for refugee children along the border with Myanmar. Tutu says, “I give all of my energy for these children. I will serve among my hill-tribe children until my last breath.” Tutu is not tall, and her hands are small, but she is certainly doing big work! Our team kids, like Tutu, have small hands, but they do big work too! In August, they will travel to Chiang Mai to visit one of Tutu’s children’s home. There will be 5 families and 2 teachers going on this service trip. We will also be carrying around 200kg of goods from our warehouse: clothing, bags, stationery supplies, sports items, toys etc. Our kids will help prepare these before we go. Tutu is excited we’re coming, her kids are excited, we are excited, but we need to raise some funds to get there. Would you like to be a part of this adventure?

HUGE THANKS to everyone who contributed towards this trip. We've uploaded photos from the trip to this page and you can read more in our latest newsletter which was sent out this week. * * * * * We are excited to be joining a service trip to Thailand in August. We will be going with our classmates at Crossroads’ TLC, and their families, to run activities for a number of children’s homes for orphans across Chiang Mai, including a home that is more rural and doesn’t get as much support as the others. We will also be preparing around 200kg of donated goods from Crossroads for the orphans: much needed sports equipment, stationery, clothing, educational toys. These goods will also help refugee children along the border with Myanmar.Funds raised through this website go directly to Crossroads and will cover the cost of flights, accommodation, food for our family and some activities for the orphan children.Note: target has been reduced due to offline donations!
