I've spent the last few years of my working life hearing the stories of refugees from all over the world - Syrians, Iraqis, Eritreans, Congolese, Somalis, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, and the list goes on. The reasons and conditions under which I've heard people flee for their lives have varied, but the consistent elements that I've heard over and over again are the intense fear that motivated people to leave their home countries and the typically harsh and uncertain conditions under which they exist once in exile. 

After hearing countless refugee narratives, the time has come to put myself in the shoes of a refugee for 24 hours. In September, I'll be participating in Crossroads Global X-perience simulation, which is is intended to expose participants (ordinary, fortunate people like yours truly) to the cold realities of the experience the 70 million refugees who don't get the same option to go home after 24 hours. 

Crossroads Foundation is a Hong Kong based non-profit organization that focusses on humanitarian assistance and relief. As part of my X-perience, I've set the goal to raise $3000 HKD for Crossroads, in order to support the work that they're doing in Hong Kong and around the world
