About Event

In conjunction with World Refugee Day on the 20th of June, MSRI aims to raise funds and spread awareness to support refugees and asylum seekers in Malaysia.

How to be involved in MSRI World Refugee Day Campaign:

  1. Read up quick facts regarding refugees in Malaysia at http://bit.ly/2qqqzU7
  2. Choose a fact and upload a selfie with your chosen fact post on FB or Instagram (You can be as creative as you like, either a video or photos!)(Or use our posters in the gallery below)
  3. Tag five friends (or more) to pass on spreading the awareness.
  4. Please include the hashtag: #MSRIworldrefugeeday and the link to this SimplyGiving page: https://www.simplygiving.com/event/MSRIworldrefugeeday2017
  5. Donate a minimum of RM 5 here!

Background:

MSRI Refugee Support Center is an implementing partner of UNHCR that provides humanitarian services for refugees and asylum seekers from Syria, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia etc in Malaysia. Our services are:

  • Education -  Our school currently has 230 students. We provide Pre-K, Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary, IGCSE and English class for adults 
  • Healthcare - We provide affordable basic healthcare services and counselling services.
  • Vocational Training - A program for the women to learn to make handicrafts and earn income.
  • Emergency Support - We provide in-kind donations or temporary financial support to families in an emergency state.

As of December 2016, we have 1,847 families registered with us, amounting to around 5,764 refugees and asylum seekers. Due to the growing demands for our services we are in dire need of funds to cover our operating and administrative costs.
