Spreading Hope Through Music YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB-ymjiuhntd_ZQB3TMAZZQ My name is Zi Ying and I am 16 years old. I am going to study the IB in Sunway International School. I enjoy swimming, running and playing the viola.  From a young age I have realised that I am blessed to be healthy and have the privilege of fulfilling my wishes and dreams. Every Chinese New Year, my dad would bring our family to an orphanage where we would give out red packets to every child. In the orphanage there would be really sick children. It pained me to see helpless children fighting their illness, unable to study or work towards their dreams, but instead allowing time to pass by in the hope of recovering from their illness. Many children suffer from life threatening illnesses without being able to accomplish or experience anything as their illness prevents them from doing so. These children lie in bed wondering when they will recover and have the opportunity to work towards their dreams and careers. Hope is the best thing we as healthy, privileged people can give to these children. Hope that will encourage and urge them to not give up and keep fighting; Hope that they will recover and live a normal life.Make-A-Wish Malaysia has a mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. They believe that with each wish granted, they bring renewed strength and encouragement for the child and family. For every RM400 you donate, I will play a meaningful piece on my viola and upload it on a Youtube channel dedicated to Make-A-Wish-Malaysia children. I believe that every child should have the chance to make their wishes come true which is why I am starting this fundraising campaign. I want to give these children the hope to keep on fighting.

Hello everyone! My name is Nicholas Jong and I am 15 years old. I am currently in my final year of secondary school in Cempaka Damansara and I enjoy playing the piano. I lead a healthy life and my parents care for my well being. However, I am aware that amidst the privileged life that I live in, there are sick children who are not as lucky as I am, which is why I am starting this fundraising campaign. I want to brighten their lives. No matter how far they are from me, they will always have a place in my heart. For every RM 100 that you donate, I pledge to walk 500 steps for you. Let us all be part of this journey. ******************************************************************Today is already the 13th of January, only one day left till I begin my walk. I have been waiting 11 days for this and I feel eager and set to start. Recently, I even got a sports armband phone case holder to help track my number of steps each day. Even though I mentioned before that I plan on walking 500 steps for every RM100 I receive, but if I have the time, I strive to make it 1000 steps for every RM100, to express my gratitude for every dollar I have raised along the way. As exhausted as I may feel, I will always keep my head up, let every sweat drip, and carry on until I achieve my targeted number of steps and beyond. I will update you on my progress daily                                                 ******************************************************************Day 1: 14th January 2022The 14th of January had finally arrived and I could not have been more excited to begin my walk. This morning, I woke up feeling refreshed, and with eagerness to make every step count. 4100 steps today, I would say that is a great start to my journey. I aim to increase my number of steps day by day, to challenge myself. Tomorrow is a new day, and I cannot wait to start walking already!Day 2: 15th January 2022After an exciting start to my walk yesterday, I feel that my progress today has been a little disappointing. 2000 steps, which is only half of yesterday, but I keep my head up. Tomorrow, I will make it up by running on the treadmill. I am sure that there will be a sharp increase in my number of steps, and I will be back on track to reach my target.Day 3: 16th January 20226000 steps today, what a big improvement compared to yesterday! I was eager to use the treadmill at first to increase my steps, but the excitement quickly turned into disappointment when I found out that my device could not track my steps on the treadmill. That was a big let down but I was not going to allow myself to feel defeated, so I went for an evening walk instead to make it up. Seeing my step count slowly increase at that time brought so much joy and truly made my day. Day 4: 17th January 2022 6000 steps again today! I am slowly but surely picking up the pace. Everyday, I feel that I am edging closer to my 70000 step target. I personally enjoy challenging myself to walk more every single day, and I definitely cannot wait to break my milestone of 6000 steps daily. Who knows? Maybe I will be able to set a new record tomorrow.Day 5: 18th January 2022Hello everyone! I just want to say thank you so much for supporting me in this journey. Thanks to all of your donations, I have achieved my target of RM7000. As I have promised, I will walk 1000 steps for every RM100 donated, and I am eager to go beyond that. Every step counts, I have had 23000 steps since last Friday, and I am sure that with all of you by my side, I will be able to reach 70000 steps very soon. Day 6: 19th January 2022For the past 2 days, my step count has decreased. As disappointing as it may be, I keep my head up. Tomorrow is a new day, a chance for me to do better. I just want you to know that no matter what, my excitement for this walk will never fade away. Day 7: 20th January 20224500 steps today, things are starting to look up. I will keep pushing myself to do better day by day. Even though I am still quite far away from 70000 steps, I know that if I set my mind to it, I will be able to reach my target.Day 8: 21st January 20225000 steps today, what a great way to end off the first week! However, I am still a long way from my 70000 step target. A new week awaits though and I will be determined to give it my all. I know that with all of your support, I will be able to achieve my goalDay 9: 22nd January 2022It has not been an ideal start to the second week. Only 4000 steps today. However, I promise to do whatever it takes to achieve my target. Even though it seems difficult, I know that every step I take will put a smile on a child's face.Day 10: 23rd January 2022Hello everyone! I am so pleased that I am still getting donations even after achieving my target. This means the world to me. I am also happy that I managed 6000 steps today. For the next few days, I want to keep this up, so that I can end off this 2 week journey on a high note. Day 11: 24th January 2022I am excited to take on the challenge of walking an additional 10000 steps, now that I have raised RM1000 more than my target. Even though the 28th of January is edging closer day by day, I keep to my promises. I want to reach 80000 steps for all you. With all of your support, I will never feel alone in this journey.Day 12: 25th January 2022I am keeping up with the pace with 5000 steps today. But I know that I have the capacity to do so much more. With 3 days remaining, there is not much time left for me to reach my goal. I will give it my all, and I will not let you down.Day 13: 26th January 2022I have finally set a new milestone. 6500 steps! I have been waiting so long for this moment but it has finally arrived. It is still too early to celebrate though. There are 2 more days left for me to achieve my target. I feel so close to it, the finish line is already within my sights.Day 14: 27th January 20228000 steps today, it just keeps getting better and better. However, I need to push myself more tomorrow. It is going to be a big day. One last day, one last chance for me to achieve my goal. I promise you that I will not let you down.Day 15: 28th January 2022I have done it! 80000 steps in 2 weeks. I have been waiting so long for this moment. Once again, I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your incredible support. It is because of you, this journey was made possible. I really cannot thank you enough for this.

My name is Michaella Widjaya, I'm 12 years old and I’m from Australia. I’m working with my sister Gabrielle to raise money for Make-A-Wish, I found the Make-A-Wish charity and fundraiser through a close friend. I want to try and help the young children my age that are agonizing, undergoing cancer. it’s difficult for me to know that there are other kids my age with cancer, suffering in a hospital bed, knowing that their life is on a timer. I see them and they’re just like me a kid with dreams, with passions. I believe, although we can't change their fate, we can make their last months, days or even minutes the best ever. Make their biggest wish come true. My name is Gabrielle, I am 10 years old and I’m working with my older sister Michaella to raise money for the Make-A-Wish charity. I feel so terribly bad for kids around my age that have to go through problems like cancer and can’t do things I can such as sport. They are stuck in hospital beds all day, inside. Like in a prison, they are waiting for their sentence to be over and be to let free. These kids did not choose their fate, they are just very unlucky and they did nothing to deserve this. We can’t change the story god has chosen for them but we can lighten up their stories. Make the moments they are living actually worth living. Allow their wildest dreams to come to life.

Make-A-Wish Malaysia

Hi, my name is Chloe Tai and I am 11 years old. I am raising funds for MAKE-A-WISH (http://www.makeawish.org.my/). I found MAKE-A-WISH videos on youtube. The videos are about sick kids having their wishes come true. I found it especially sweet when watching faces of the young kids light up. I like the idea of making a wish comes true for the kid and it is new to me. I told my mom about it and we decided to start this fund-raising campaign through simplygiving.com. `MAKE-A-WISH is a non-profit organisation founded in the USA. MAKE-A-WISH grants wishes to people from ages of 3-18 with life threatening diseases, regardless of gender, economical status, race or religion. To be eligible to be granted a wish, the patient has to be a resident in Malaysia and has to be referred to by a physician. If you donate, the full amount will go to the organisation and it helps fund the ‘wish day’.Other than the collections from simplygiving.com, I will also be raising funds through selling things like slime, cakes, bread and pre-loved goods. All the money that I earn will go to MAKE-A-WISH. Don’t you think that every child should feel special even for a moment?  MAKE-A-WISH is changing lives and don’t you want to help? A simple way to make more wishes come true and change more lives is by donating money to their organisation. No matter how much you donate, big or small, it makes a HUGE difference in someone’s life.Your support would mean a lot to me but more so for the children because your help changes their lives and brings light and happiness to their days. Just imagine what the children would feel being stuck in hospital room and not knowing their future and whether they would be alive tomorrow. So having one special ‘wish day’ would mean the world to them. Thank you so much! Please donate and be the HERO of the children!

About 6 months ago, my family received news that my mum was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma Non-Hodgkin’s cancer.   Since then, she has undergone and completed 6 cycles of chemotherapy and is thankfully, on the road to recovery.   26 October 2018 marks her birthday and on this special day, my family and I have decided to participate in the Run for National Unity 2018 (held on 20 October 2018). Between the 6 of us, we will be completing a total run of 47 km! This will be the first time that we are participating in a run as a family.   To top it off, we wanted to make mum’s birthday this year extra special by fundraising for Make-A-Wish Malaysia!   Mum has chosen to adopt the wish of Fauzi, a 12-year-old boy with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, to purchase a laptop to help him to catch up with his studies. This is his story below: -- Fauzi was diagnosed in late February 2018, and still undergoes chemotherapy treatment at HUKM in Cheras. He has spent long periods of time at the hospital and misses his family and friends. When at the hospital, there's not much to occupy his time hence he's requested for a laptop so he can follow up with some of his school work, especially with online resources for local school syllabus available these days.  He's been hearing about this from his friends and knowing that he's missed classes since February, Fauzi is keen to catch up where he can.  He is supposed to sit for UPSR this year but will likely have to miss the exam this year.     To add to Fauzi's worry and fear, his elder sister was one of our wish child recipient last year but she has since passed away from Myeloid Leukaemia.     --   The Yong Family would like your support to help us to raise our donation target of RM5,000.00 before 30 October 2018 to support Fauzi in fulfilling his wish!   In addition to your donation, if you would like to support our family by running alongside us, please do sign up for the run here: http://www.racexasia.com/event/run-for-national-unity-2018/ and let us know so that we can run together!   For any further information or inquiries, please do not hesitate to drop an email to my sister Sarah-Ann at [email protected].

“Family is not an important thing, it is everything."At the age of 15, Nayli was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma (Tissue Cancer) in February 2017 and has been undergoing treatment since March 2017. She is a bright outspoken child who has an interest in the Arts and loves fashion.Ever since the diagnosis, she has been constantly in and out of hospital for her treatment. With her siblings actively going to school and her mother having to work in order to make ends meet for the family, it has been difficult for the family to really find the time to spend with one another.Understanding that, her wish is to go on a family trip with her Mom and siblings to Langkawi so that they can really reconnect as a family once again.Make her wish come true by supporting me with my climb up Mount Kinabalu via Ferrata (The Highest Ferrata in the World) and Make-A-Wish Malaysia! My story behind this....Since I was 18, I have always wanted to climb Mount Kinabalu but have never had the opportunity to do so given the circumstances that I did not have much funds to fund my own climb. This year, upon turning 24 on the 1st of August 2018, I decided to finally make my wish come true and signed up for the Mount Kinabalu climb ! I initially planned just for a normal hike up the mountain but then I decided to challenge myself further by signing up to climb Mount Kinabalu via Ferrata (The World's Highest via Ferrata climb). I have always loved the thought of challenging myself especially as a birthday treat - to do something out of the norm. To have gotten it as a birthday gift to myself with the contribution and support by my family members to take up this challenge, I felt that I was too blessed ! Too blessed to be given the opportunity and to grant my own wish, that I decided to grant someone else's wish. I immediately made a call to Make A Wish Malaysia after finalising my booking for the hike up, told them how I wanted to grant someone else's wish for my birthday as I got my wish to come true. And just like that, I was told about Nayli and her wish :)I hope that this fundraiser not only makes Nayli's wish comes true, but also serves as a reminder to me and you. That no matter how much we get busy chasing our goals in life, we should always try to remember the little blessings we have been granted with and our responsibility to give back to the society.Who knows, maybe you can make someone else's wish come true too on your birthday ! ;)My Mount Kinabalu Climb via Ferrata will begin on the 27th & ends on the 28th of July 2018.  I have paid for the trip entirely and that all the money fund raised through this climb will go directly towards making Nayli's wish come true. For any further information or inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me at +60123965532 or email me at [email protected].

Updated on 1 March 2016Hi, everyone.I’m happy to inform you that on 28 February 2016, I completed the Tokyo Marathon in 5 hours 15 minutes. I would like to personally thank you all for your contributions which have helped raise up to RM200,000 for Make-a-Wish Malaysia (both via Simply Giving as well as through direct payments). In other words, your generosity will make the wishes of many Malaysian children with critical illnesses come true, and I cannot thank you enough for being a part of this. When I first initiated the challenge of fundraising in conjunction with completing the Tokyo Marathon, I honestly did not expect the outpouring of support and kindness displayed by donors. In fact, my initial target was RM10,000 and as you can imagine, when I saw the final amount, I was absolutely humbled and heartened by the spirit of giving. For your information, Make-a-Wish Malaysia is currently assigning the funds raised towards specific projects and wishes. For example, some funds will be used to grant the wish of a young boy who has been hospitalised with Aplastic Anaemia, a rare and life-threatening condition where the body does not produce enough new blood cells. All he has ever wanted to do is go fishing. Another upcoming project is for a young boy who dreams of being a solider. He has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia but will get to enjoy an exciting day out with real soldiers at the Sungai Besi army camp. Together with Make-a-Wish Malaysia, you and I will help these two boys live their dreams. Thanks to your generosity, many more like them will also see their wishes come true. So once again, please accept my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for your support. I hope we will always remember to give back to the world we live in, however we can. “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead” - (Nelson Mandela)Zafrul**********************************************Updated on 3 January 2016To my big-hearted friends and donors,From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generous contributions to my fundraising initiative for Make-A-Wish® Malaysia. I am deeply touched and humbled by your generosity, not to mention amazed at how quickly the target of RM10,000 was met! Thanks to the wonders of technology, fundraising is made much easier and more transparent. My initial target was to raise RM10,000, to be matched Ringgit for Ringgit by me. This initial target has been surpassed eight times over within just a week, and the pledges now total RM80,000 (RM30,000 through simplygiving.com + RM50,000 through other channels). To make this endeavor more challenging and to increase the awareness of the work Make-A-Wish® Malaysia does for children with life-threatening medical conditions, my family have encouraged me to raise the target to RM100,000!For your information, I have been training hard for the Tokyo Marathon, clocking 10km per run three times on weekdays, and 20km per run on weekends. I will keep you posted on #runZafrun until I successfully complete the marathon.Thank you once again for your generosity. In a world so jaded by too much tragic news, your kindness glows like a beacon in the dark, restoring faith in the true spirit of humanity.Zafrul**********************************************Posted on 30 December 2015We often take our health and physical abilities for granted. But what if you, or someone you dearly love, had to cope with a life-threatening condition, and especially if that someone was a child? This drove me to wonder what I could do to help. Perhaps for just one day, I could restore a child’s sense of joy and fighting spirit?   If this resonates with you, then join me in making a child’s wish come true via Make-A-Wish® Malaysia, a charity that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.   Here’s what’s happening: I have signed up and am training for the Tokyo Marathon slated for 28 February 2016.  I’ve always had a passion for running, and have, in fact, started a running group with my colleagues called #teamCIMBRun. However, the main challenge now is to squeeze in the regular, required training for a 42-km run into my already very tight schedule as CIMB Group CEO! As you can imagine, this is proving to be quite a difficult task which I’m determined to defy.   My goal is to raise RM10,000 and to sweeten the deal, I will match the total amount raised, Ringgit for Ringgit. The funds raised will help make a child’s wish come true and I will provide updates of this personal mission as time progresses through #RunZafRun on Instagram. I would like to prove that the human spirit of generosity and big-heartedness is well and truly alive, particularly in my home country, Malaysia. Thank you in advance for helping me help a child today.   Further details of Make-A-Wish® Malaysia can be found below.     Make-A-Wish Malaysia We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Each wish sees families filled with hope, strength and joy, and empowered to once again take up the fight against the medical challenges they face.   It is these magical experiences that Make-A-Wish® Malaysia, and all the other Make-A-Wish® foundations around the world, seek to fulfill and will continue to do so with the support of dedicated volunteers and supporters.   Help us make a wish come true today...

Mont Hope Clinic is a family and wellness clinic specializing in medicine, aesthetics and surgery. Our focus is primarily on maintaining a healthy balanced lifestyle as the cornerstone of our treatment approach. We're constantly on the lookout for opportunities to enrich the lives of our team members and the community.  So, when Dr.Nick Boden and Elaine Daly of Team Spine and Joint suggested that we join them to run for Make a Wish Malaysia, we simply could not resist!    Make-A-Wish Malaysia, an initiative led by Tengku Zatashah Idris, allows children with life threatening medical conditions and their family to put aside their challenges for a day by immersing themselves in the activities organised on Wish Day. Each wish sees families filled with hope, strength and joy, and empowered to once again take up the fight against the medical challenges they face.    For example, wishes that have been granted by Make-A-Wish Malaysia include:  •    Zi Yuan, 11 yrs old with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma, his wish was to have an iPad to stay in touch with his friends via social media. •    Safiyah, 13 yrs old with complex heart disease, her wish was to be a chef.  •    Murkeish, 11yrs old with Leukaemia, his wish was to meet his favourite footballer of Manchester City, Sergio Leonel Agüero Del Castillo. •    Rose, 7 yrs old with Leukaemia, her wish was to be a Princess for the day.  •    Ali, 10 yrs old with Pre-B Cell Lymphoma, his wish was to have a new bicycle to cycle to school.  Please help us reach our target by donating in support of our run, and bring a smile and lasting memories to more kids with Make-A-Wish Malaysia!  Every gift counts. No gift is too small.... Your donation will go a long way in supporting these special children and make their dreams come true.   Let’s touch a life today. Thank you!   Yours Truly,   Team Mont Hope

Spine&Joint clinics specialise in treating sports and running injuries. We support healthy activities like running, and especially when running for a great cause. A group of our friends that are a mix of novice and experienced runners have come together to collectively try and raise RM10 000 for Make a Wish Malaysia. The patron Tengku Zatashah is a fitness freak and we have now convinced her to run her first race. Make-A-Wish Malaysia allows children with life threatening medical conditions and their family to put aside their challenges for a day by immersing themselves in the activities organised on Wish Day. Dear Friends,  It all started out when I asked a group of friends let’s run and raise funds for the kids of Make-A-Wish Malaysia, at the Angkor Wat Half Marathon. As Patron of Make-A-Wish Malaysia, I was thrilled that my friends were immediately ready to take on the challenge. And before you know it, game on!Each of us in the team are running different races, Aubry will be running 21km half marathon, whilst I will be running 3km. Make-A-Wish Malaysia allows the child and their family to put aside their challenges for a day by immersing themselves in the activities organised on Wish Day. Each wish sees families filled with hope, strength and joy, and empowered to once again take up the fight against the medical challenges they face. For example, wishes that have been granted by Make-A-Wish Malaysia include: Zi Yuan, 11 yrs old with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma, his wish was to have an iPad to stay in touch with his friends via social media. We strongly believe in the life-changing Power of a Wish, and with your help, we can start the chain reaction of hope, strength and joy — one that inspires the child, their family, and everyone around them. Thank you once again for your kind and generous support. Sincerely, Zatashah & Aubry
