We are currently pursuing our Diploma in Business Administration (Year 1 Semester 3) and have decided to launch an online fundraising campaign named as "Loveable animals". Our goal is to raise RM1,000 to SPCA Penang. The fundraising campaign started from 20 March 2023 to 7 May 2023. The purpose of this fundraising campaign is to increase the awareness of animals' protection to the public. We are a team of students from TARUMT Penang Branch, pursuing Diploma in Accounting Year 1 Semester 3. We will be launching an online fundraising event to raise funds for SPCA Penang. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), is a non-profit organization, that promotes kindness and compassion towards all animals great and small, aiming to alleviate cruelty and reduce suffering and help the animals that cannot defend themselves. They provide shelter, rehabilitation, rehoming, and also spaying & neuter to the animals.We choose to raise funds for SPCA because there are a lot of animals that are being abused, abandoned, or maltreated by humans. Hence, we're hoping that by raising funds, we can help SPCA Penang with its financial burden, and give stray animals a temporary home and sustenance until they can find a forever home. We are currently taking our course in Diploma in Accounting, the batch of Year 1 Semester 3 Tutorial Group 6 students. We are going to launch an online fundraising project called “Little Paws Fundraiser” from 20th March 2023 until 7th May 2023, targeting to raise funds for a total of RM1500. Our objective is to help those cats that are suffering. Furthermore, the raised funds are to be donated to a non-governmental organization (NGO) named Pertubuhan Pembela Kucing Pulau Pinang to provide those cats with a better life. In order to raise money for cancer research as well as with the hope to spread awareness about the disease, Darrell Fox collaborates with Cancer Research Malaysia and the High Commission of Canada to lead the start of the Terry Fox Run in Kepong Metropolitan Park, Kuala Lumpur. Eventually, the event successfully garner funds of over RM130,000.That event led us, Diploma in Finance and Investment students from TARUMT Penang Campus, to ruminate, as a student, what can be done by us to support cancer patients. We decided to choose St. Nicholas' Home as our online fundraising campaign organization called "Dawn Warriors". The name Dawn Warriors is a thoughtful and meaningful representation of the challenges and strengths of individuals with visual impairments. The warriors represent individuals who experience visual challenges. The 'warriors' eyes were covered by the word 'dawn' and could not see the world clearly, but they could still feel the sunlight. Blind people are brave enough to go forward and survive even though they can't see the world.We completely agree with their mission to provide education, training, and employment opportunities in a caring environment, thus empowering blind and visually impaired persons to fully participate in society while helping to promote the prevention of blindness. Generally, St.Nicholas' Home Penang is a non-profit organization which provides education, training and employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired individuals. As we firmly believe that these groups of individuals deserve to live fulfilling lives regardless of their disabilities. Thus, we are here to lend our hands to them. In addition, we aim to promote a caring environment where the discrimination against the blind and visually impaired individuals can be gradually minimized. We are students that are currently studying Diploma in International Business Year 1 Sem 3 from Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology Penang Branch (TARUMT). We will be organizing an online fundraising campaign during this semester from March to May 2023 to raise funds for 5 different non-profit organizations. These organizations are listed as below:Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital SPCA Penang St. Nicholas Home Kechara Soup Kitchen Pertubuhan Pembela Kucing Pulau Pinang More information about the 5 non-profit organizations: 1. Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital- It aspires to bring God's healing presence through the best and affordable cancer treatment and care for the needy.- This year they are hosting a charity dinner on Apr 15, 2023 and the minimum for 10 people at a table is RM3500.00.2. SPCA Penang- A temporary animal shelter to provide proper care for sick, injured and abandoned animals until a home is found.- News reported that several adoption centers are struggling and are in serious need for an upgrade. 3. St.Nicholas Home- A non-profit organization which aims to provide education, training and employment opportunities in a caring environment, thus empowering blind and visually impaired persons to fully participate in society.- It is still recovering from the impacts of the pandemic.- It also offers courses for the patients there.4. Kechara Soup Kitchen- A non-profit organization which aims to serve the homeless and marginalized communities of all races and religions in Malaysia. - They have provided 3 programs aimed to provide assistance to the most vulnerable people in the community.Soup Kitchen: provide food, welfare aid, job placement, shelter, basic medical service for the homeless since 2008Food Bank: redirecting surplus food away from landfills and dry food to marginalized communities Empowerment: Kechara Soup Kitchen Empowerment Program is an initiative to provide skill set for single mothers and at-risk women5. Pertubuhan Pembela Kucing Pulau Pinang- An organization only for abandoned / stray cats.- Its mission is to make Penang free of stray cats.- It has been selling crafted goods as a donation for the organization.Alone we can do so little, Together we can do so much.
