The Will 2 Live: Battling Breast Cancer is a fundraising event organised by a group of students from the Bachelor of Corporate Communication programme at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA). BCWA was established in 1986 as a non-profit, tax-exempt, voluntary organisation with the purpose of providing breast cancer patients and survivors peer physical and emotional support.World Health Organization (WHO) stated that in 2020, 2.3 million of women were diagnosed with breast cancer, resulting in 685000 deaths worldwide. Despite that, there are many breast cancer patients who survived the battle and is slowly on the road to recovery. However, breast cancer survivors tend to face problems in emotional and physical aspects. This is due to the confidence loss in them after going through breast removal surgery. Hence, we a group of 5 students from UTAR would love to use this opportunity to raise funds for breast cancer survivors who came from the B40 background. The funds raised will then go to the production of silicone breast prosthesis. Silicon breast prosthesis serves as a support system for survivors who have been through breast removal surgery. By having this as a support, it gives survivors back their confidence to continue their battle with this deadly cancer. Now is the time to show your love and support for breast cancer patients by giving them the will to live. Fundraisers will get a pink ribbon, regardless of the amount of their donations. You can show your support for the patients by wearing a pink ribbon and uploading an Instagram photo with the hashtag #TheWill2Live with other donors. All donations raised will be directed to the BCWA in order to continue their mission of improving living conditions for women with breast cancer and educating the public about breast health and breast cancer. Dear friends,There are many things that we treasure in this life and for some people, life will never be the same again if they are diagnosed with illnesses. You can come out of it a stronger person or you could dwell in your sicknesses and begin to sink into depression. Bottom line is that we will never know how it feels to be down with illnesses unless we have gone through and experience it for ourselves. The big "C" for example, has been a taboo for some families to talk about it because it has brought along so much pain, anger, frustration and endless question marks of why, when and how? We may never know all the answers to our doubts but we can all share the burden of those who are suffering even those that we do not know personally. It is always easier to give to people that we know; someone that we care and love but if you have the love of humanity, we should love everyone regardless of race and social class. "Love each one unconditionally as how God has loved you". You will never know who you can touch by your little generosity and kindness! Losing anyone, much less to breast cancer, is an indescribable, and often overwhelming feeling of pain and loss. In recent years, I have friends and colleagues being diagnosed with breast cancer. I was indeed sad with the painful experience that they went through. Some breast cancer patients are struggling with the costs of treatment and emotional instability. Some have no option but to turn to the breast cancer welfare organisation or public to gain the necessary support.So, this is the month for us to highlight the importance of breast cancer awareness and education, and raise funds to help the underprivileged women suffering from breast cancer. I have been involved with various awareness and fund raising activities related to breast cancer for some years. The effort and hard work have paid off through the generosity of everyone who took part made it all worthwhile. The same goes to this Go Pink initiatives. I hope with our little contribution, BCWA can reach out to help more people suffering from breast cancer and make an impact to their lives.Thank you for donating! My mother Christine Chan passed away recently which was about 3 months ago due to last stage of kidney & pancreas cancer. She fought it throughout several months during the Chinese New Year. In the meantime I replaced her position working as accountant as she unable to work while admitted to hospital. Now she no longer with me and my family anymore. The goal for me to raise funds help my family especially my dad. He is been suffering alone to pay the credit card debts, home loan, car, utilities bill n etc. Furthermore Is not easy for a man who survive alone everything by his own which sometimes I teared up when seeing him not having a good rest or food as he is a very save on expenses person. For me I have to support him but Have own things to settle my bills , debts n all as I have commitment as well. I hope there can reachout to help us out.
