Sousdei! Throughout my four months so far living in Battambang, Cambodia, one of my favorite aspects of city has been its rich arts scene supported by the Phare Ponleu Selpak school.From the beautiful murals around the city to drummers and apsara dancers for Bon Ohm Touk to fire throwing performances, acrobatics and circus tricks by the Independence Monument to theater shows, breakdancing, and a plethora of visual art at the Chomnuol Art Fest, almost every Battambang event has been graced with Phare’s creative touch. Phare students incorporate both traditional styles and values and more modern genres and themes, preserving and actively shaping Khmer culture.I’m extremely excited to support Phare and complete my first ever 30k cycle in the inaugural Sanger River Run fundraising event. Hello Everyone! My name is Samphallyka. As I have been working here for one year now, I learned so much about this wonderful school by heart! With incredibly distinctive viewpoints, Phare provides to young, underprivileged Cambodians, assisting them in pursuing their passion for becoming artists. As the 30th-year celebration of Phare Ponleu Selpak which may continue to support thousands of people and the arts in Cambodia, I'd like to challenge myself by cycling 30 Km in this Sangke River Run!

I'm a runner in Battambang. I often run along the Sangkae River. Sangkae river run is one of my favorite activities in Battambang. And watching circus show and artworks of Phare Ponleu Selpak are also my favorite in Battambang. I'm so excited to celebrate Phare Ponleu Selpak’s 30th anniversary and to raise funds for arts and education. Happy to join it. I'm looking forward to running for them. Phare Ponleu Selpak est une formidable organisation à Battambang (Cambodge) qui éduque les enfants et formes de jeunes adultes à l'art. Au cours des 30 dernières années, ils ont été le coeur vibrant de la vie culturelle de la ville et également le nid d'où la plupart des artistes cambodgiens (dont mon cher et tendre) sont sortis de leur coquille et ont commencé à voler de leur propres ailes. Ayant vécu à Battambang, j'ai pu être témoin direct de l'impact qu'ils ont sur la vie culturelle, sur la créativité et sur sur l'émergence d'artistes formidables.Pour commencer l'année 2024 sur le bon pied, j'ai donc décidé de mettre mes pieds sur des pédales en participant à la course qu'ils organisent le long de la rivière Sangker et ainsi lever du financement pour une grande cause. Vous aussi, prenez cette occasion pour bien commencer l'année. Je roulerai donc pour eux et pour vous.Phare Ponleu Selpak is a fantastic organization in Battambang (Cambodia) that educates kids and trains young adults in art. Over the past 30 years, they have been the vibrant heart of the cultural activity in Battambang and also the nest from where most of the Cambodian artists (including my beloved one) hatch and start to fly. Living in Battambang, I have been witness to the impact they have on the city life, on the creativity and on the emergence of fantastic artists.To start 2024 on the good foot, I have decided to put my feet on pedals and participate in the race they organize along the Sangker River in Battambang and raise funds for this great cause. Hey, lass uns zusammen das Jahr mit einer tollen Aktion starten! Ich bin dabei, beim 30 km 'Marathon' vom Phare-Zirkus in Battambang mitzumachen. Es gibt die Option zu laufen oder zu radeln, und ich habe mich fürs Fahrradfahren entschieden.Das Tolle an dieser Veranstaltung ist, dass es nicht nur um Sport geht. Wir unterstützen damit den Phare-Zirkus, der in Kambodscha Kindern neue Perspektiven bietet. Der Zirkus hat dieses Jahr sogar einen Weltrekord aufgestellt, was zeigt, wie unglaublich ihre Arbeit ist.Ich habe mir vorgenommen, mindestens 50 Euro zu spenden, aber natürlich wäre es super, wenn wir gemeinsam viel mehr erreichen könnten. Jeder Beitrag, egal wie klein, hilft und macht einen Unterschied. Lass uns gemeinsam was Großes bewirken!Also, wenn du Lust hast, mich zu unterstützen und damit auch den Kindern in Kambodscha zu helfen, wäre ich mega dankbar. We're running 30 kilometres to fundraise for Phare Ponleu Selpak on January 20th.We're representing Kingdom Fight Gym, Phnom Penh's premiere fighting gym offering expert private and group training in Kun Khmer to all abilities. But KFG isn’t just a business, we are also committed to giving back to Cambodia through our own work and by supporting others, and we can think of no better place to give back than Phare Ponleu Selpak. Phare was founded by 8 refugees from the Khmer Rouge genocide and is celebrating 30 years of supporting Cambodians from disadvantaged backgrounds to become artists, performers, entrepreneurs, and athletes. It has lifted thousands of young lives out of poverty, become world-renowned for its circus, and works in Battambang – often considered the heart of Cambodia’s Kun Khmer tradition. Kwok, Matias and Jaime are joining forces to complete the first ever 30 kilometre run by the Sangke River on January 20th, and are looking for people to sponsor us and help Phare continue its incredible work.

Sousdey neak os knea! (hello everyone!) Friends and family, I hope you all have a fabulous year of 2023. For the past 20th months or so, I have been challenging myself to commit to a daily 7 days/week routine without excuses that include going to the gym, working out at home, cycling and as well as running. The journey has been very challenging, but it has had a huge positive impact on me. For the running, this past December, I did 1o km run at Angkor Half Marathon and a 21km run last year. But, I have never attempted a 30km run before. To celebrate Phare Ponleu Selpak 30th years anniversary this coming Jan 20th, 2024. Phare organized a 30km route for runners and cyclists called “Sangke River Run”. I am challenging myself to run 30 km and I hope to raise $500 USD to support this wonderful organization. I have had the privilege to visit Phare‘s school in Battamang many times throughout the years and am very inspired with what they have achieved and continue ” to empower and transform the lives of children and youth through the arts”.
