I am fundraising for MCRI, a non-government and non-profit organisation that has been continuously advocating for children's rights. We are collecting funds to launch the Literacy Impacts and Family Education (LIFE) Program. The LIFE Program aims to improve children's literacy with Read Aloud programs a mobile library. Parents play a large role in the lives of their children, hence, this program also includes monthly parenting workshops to improve their understanding of their children's development. After all, the well-being of children begins at home. How did you feel when you watched that child ride that motorcycle without a helmet? Or when you saw that child wander around in public without parent's supervision?Violation of children's rights to safety and protection. How did you feel when you hear stories of those who never managed to complete their education when they were younger? Or of those who wished they had more help during their youth so they could learn better?Children have the rights to education and of the highest level they are able to achieve. Many mishaps and crimes related to children are a result of the violation of children's rights, and it is happening around us everyday. As a community, we truly need to understand the goals and the long term benefits of practicing attitudes and behaviours that abide the CRC. Parents play a great role in the nuturing of their children but every other citizen is equally as important. We must do our part to help our children be the best versions of themselves and create a safe and encouraging environment for them to grow. In United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child, there are 54 articles to protect our children. It covers everything from the right to education, the right to protection, the right for children to be with their parents so on and so forth. We all love our children and we always speak of how they are the leaders of the future, but are we clear about their rights and what we are responsible for to ensure that they grow into their best potential? For a summary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child : https://www.unicef.org/crc/files/Rights_overview.pdfHere is a kid's version (so cute!) : https://www.unicef.org/rightsite/files/uncrcchilldfriendlylanguage.pdf I hope you would join me to spread the word to let everyone around you know the rights of our children! If you would like to support the work we do, you could donate RM1 for each children's right that you strongly believe in! MCRI is also conducting a children's rights workshop on the 11th August 2017, please contact [email protected] if you would like to know more.

Malaysian Child Resource Institute (MCRI)

Hello! Welcome to my personal fundraising page! My name is Nurliyana Yusof and I am currently working as an intern at the Malaysian Child Resource Institute (MCRI). MCRI is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting quality early child care and education through training of child-based services. MCRI works to promote the healthy development of children by raising awareness on the Rights of the Child and advocating for better standards in the provision of early childhood education.   I began working as an intern on 1st November 2015 and after one month, MCRI has given me the opportunity to experience and understand the concept of an NGO company. I began to comprehend the importance of raising awareness on the rights of a child and their need to be nurtured and educated in order to fulfill their full potential.   At MCRI, we aim to educate children in terms of not only the academic perspective but also in practical skills, arts and creativity, moral and self-esteem skills. MCRI carries out numerous programmes created to enhance these skills that will allow them to regularly practice them efficiently.   Our upcoming school holiday programmes include: · Menu-planning and Nutrition Class · Speech and Drama Class · Read Aloud Sessions · English Reading and Writing Workshops · Kids’ Philosophy Class · Young People’s Research Project   In addition, MCRI bakes gingerbread man in order to create awareness and to promote children’s rights among the community. The gingerbread man is a symbol which indicates the personal safety of a child and to prevent the child from any harm.   All funds collected will be used to provide children with necessary materials needed for a better learning environment and hands on experience. MCRI is a regular contributor to the urban poor community, disadvantaged children as well as refugee schools and the funds collected will also be used to help those in need. By donating, you can help a child to be educated and provide the underprivileged with hope in their community.   For more information and further inquiries, call us at 603 9133 7849 or email us at [email protected]   Thank you!

Dear readers, Thank you for taking the time to visit my personal fundraising page. My name is Alexandra, currently an intern at the Malaysian Child Resource Institute (MCRI). Started my internship at MCRI at the beginning of November and as time passed by, I’ve begun to fully grasp and understand the dire need to raise awareness for the rights of a child; a child being more vulnerable and the rights often overlooked. MCRI is a non-governmental and a not-for-profit organization that advocates the rights of the child by raising awareness such as the importance of early childhood care and education. MCRI envisions the rights of a child complied in every aspect regardless of nationality, creed and culture. In regards to the visions of MCRI, we will be carrying out numerous programmes for children from all walks of life, providing them the opportunity to participate in a wide array of activities; that help furnish skills that are beneficial to a child, in the long run. In regards to the year-end holidays, MCRI will be providing programmes that aim to do just that. These programmes include; ·         The Gingerbread man and women bake sale that not only provides the funds to support our initiatives but symbolizes the efforts of increasing personal safety of a child.Menu planning and nutrition class that fulfills the right of a child to have nutritious food in our kid’s kitchen catered for the children. ·        English Reading and Writing classes to help foster a child’s skills in reading and writing.  Speech and drama classes that will help boost a child’s confidence through the freedom of expression- giving them the right to be heard through encouraging avenues. ·        Read aloud programmes to nurture and inculcate a child’s love for books; simultaneously fulfilling a child’s right to children’s books.Kids’ Philosophy classes to allow a child to be inquisitive in thoughts and reasoning through the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality and existence.Young people’s research project to provide a child the opportunity to obtain and share information through research in a safe environment.            In light, these programmes are held to raise awareness of the rights of a child- providing underprivileged, urban poor, and refugee children the access to educational programmes. Hence, It is only through the kind contribution of people that our programmes can be made possible. To make it happen, the collaborative strength of individuals is what we need. For more information, do call us at 603 9133 7849 or email us at [email protected]. All donations are in support of our programmes for the children. Thank you very much.

Dear friends, For the first time ever, Heather wishes to request Christmas presents, but in the form of donation to Malaysian Child Resource Institute (MCRI, a not-for-profit and non-governmental organisation dedicated to increasing the awareness of the rights of the child and promoting quality education). I am a full time staff at MCRI and am raising funds for programmes to be delivered to children from disadvantaged background, such as those from shelter homes, refugee children and urban poor. As you all know, I believe in the power of education in tackling social problem in long term, especially getting people out of vicious cycle. At MCRI, I have the opportunity to work with children, fulfilling their rights as children. For the list of programmes that we offer, visit http://simplygiving.com/event/educateyounglivesmcri. In the programmes, I observed their improvements in terms of skills and manners which keep me going on in this line of work. I am very delighted to see them gain confidence in gaining competency in English and motor skills, paving a successful lives for the children. If I may, allow me to ask you all to sacrifice perhaps your privilege of having one or two meals out, to support our programmes for the children from vulnerable communities. Together, we can make a difference to the young lives today. Thank you for your kind contribution. Malaysian Child Resource Institute (MCRI)

It was very recently that I began working with the Malaysian Child Resource Institute (MCRI) for my internship. My knowledge regarding the rights of children and what MCRI does was merely skimming the surface. As the days progress, I began to understand better of what they do and what they aspire to achieve. MCRI is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that promotes the healthy development of children by raising awareness on the Rights of the Child and advocating for better standards in the provision of early childhood care and education.  They envisage a world where all children are nurtured and educated so they can attain their full potential. Through numerous initiatives including workshops, training and awareness raising events, MCRI hopes to accomplish this. So, starting this November and December 2015, MCRI has decided to organise a variety of exciting and productive learning programmes that children can engage in during their school holidays. These programmes include:  - Read Aloud Classes.           - English Reading and Writing Workshops.           - Menu-planning and Nutrition Classes.           - Speech and Drama Classes.           - Making Gingerbread Cookies.           - Kids’ Philosophy Classes. Overall, these programmes are organised to raise the awareness of child rights within the community. For this to be a success, we raise funds to support the programmes. It gives an opportunity to the disadvantaged children, refugee children, and children from shelter homes to improve their English literacy, self-confidence, learning how to eat healthily and also to cultivate their love to read books.Hence, I would like to ask people to help support and help us offer more educational programmes for children in need. All donations are used to fund the programmes for the children. Donations are accepted from now till 30th December 2015. For further enquiry, please find us at [email protected]. Thank you very much.

Malaysian Child Resource Institute (MCRI)

Dear Friends,I’m here to raise funds for the disadvantaged children, refugee children and urban poor because all the children have the right to learn everything they want as long as it is not harmful to them. However, not every parent can afford the fees of the programmes that can be beneficial for the children. Therefore, I’m raising the funds for MCRI in order to let MCRI develop programmes for the children at a lower rate, making it affordable for every child. The children shouldn’t just learn theories in school but also learn to apply the knowledge gained in their day to day lives. That is what MCRI aims to do! To give the opportunity to each child to get access to knowledge that they can implement each day that will enable them to make better choices. Besides that, MCRI also develops practical programmes to let the children have more hands-on activities in order to enhance their daily living skills and soft skills such as teamwork.  The programmes include; ·      Menu Planning and Nutrition Class  ·      Speech and Drama Class  ·      English Reading and Writing Workshop  ·      Kids’ Philosophy Class  ·      Young People as Researchers Programme  ·      Read-aloud Programme  ·      Personal Safety Programme·      Making Gingerbread CookiesChildren should have the chance to learn! Your little contribution can help determine the future of a child. For more information you may contact, 03-9133 7849 or email us at [email protected]. Donations are accepted from now till 31st December 2015. Thank you for your generosity! 該活動包括:·      Menu Planning and Nutrition Class  ·      Speech and Drama Class  ·      English Reading and Writing Workshop  ·      Kids’ Philosophy Class  ·      Young People as Researchers Programme  ·      Read-aloud Programme  ·      Personal Safety Programme   我們應該要給予孩子們更多的機會去學習!
