My Story

The objective of this fund raising campaign is to raise RM 300 000.00 for 250 disadvantaged women in three countries, in recognition of International Women's Day, which falls on 8th March 2015. TECH Outreach Malaysia gives POP women (poorest of the poor women) loans ranging from RM 1500.00 (USD 500.00) to RM 2000.00 (USD 700.00) to help these women initiate small business ventures that can help them sustain themselves and their families. The aim is to empower these women to attain sustainability in business income and transformation in their livelihoods by enabling basic needs for them and their families. International Women's Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater gender equality. The first International Women's Day was held in 1911, and till today, its an event that is held to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organisations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women's groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day. For this year, with the theme MAKE IT HAPPEN, TECH Outreach Malaysia is organising a Masquerade Charity Night to recognise the achievements of the disadvantaged women they have transformed. The event is on Saturday 7th March 2015 at the Royal Selangor Club, Dataran Merdeka at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are priced at RM 150.00 per person for Dinner & A Night of Fun. All contributions will go towards loans for women headed households in Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Each woman will receive a micro loan for RM 1500.00 (USD 500.00) to RM 2000.00 (USD 700.00) and she will repay this loan on a weekly basis for 18 months. All this money goes into a Revolving Fund, which will be "opened" at the end of 18 months to be used for more women. Sustainability in business income and Impact in livelihood transformation are the two key outcomes of this initiative. Dr. Selvamalar Ayadurai Mobile: +6 012 2396 547
