Elephant Asia Rescue & Survival Foundation (EARS)

Elephant Asia Rescue & Survival Foundation (EARS) was launched in Hong Kong in 2010 to promote awareness of the plight of the Asian elephant. In addition to overseeing the animal welfare and management at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, EARS Asia works to educate people globally on ethical tourism and animal welfare for elephants in Asia.

In 2015, EARS Asia learned that two Asian elephants in our care at Teuk Chhou Zoo in Cambodia, Kiri and Seila, were to be sent to Japan in a trade deal by their owner. EARS Asia successfully petitioned to stop the trade however as a result were banned from providing any further care. In 2016, EARS Asia launched a new campaign with the support of tens of international animal welfare organisations to "#CloseTheZoos" - namely Teuk Chhou Zoo and its sister zoo, Prey Veng Zoo, both in Cambodia.
