"The strongest people are not those who show strength in front of us but those who win battles we know nothing about."

My Story

My name is Mardhiyah, 25 years old girl living in Seremban. Being with MAKNA for Malaysian Stem Cell Registry (MSCR) really changed my perception towards people and life. HOPE is truly a big word for most of the patients and their family. I might not a doctor that saves a plethora of people’s lives, not even an influencer that can make a change to the community but whatever small steps that I am doing right now, they gave some meaning to my life and I hope to others too. It is not all rainbows but the satisfaction being able to help is priceless I could tell.

I know that I am not an avid hiker as some of my friends are but what drives me wanted to pledge along other 19 climbers to summit Mount Kinabalu this year?

Cancer not only changes ones life, but their family and close friends as well. On 2015, my bestfriend was diagnosed with lymphoma. It was heartbreaking for me, though I know whatever she and her family felt is much more greater. Still it scared me to death. Towards the year end, my beloved mother passed away, though not due to cancer, she fight her illness for 8 long years. Few other bitter things happened on the same year and they scarred me. But the year after my bestfriend was pronounced free from cancer after series of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Seeing her manage to scare the big C away and recover from the all the bad things that came in package was truly inspiring. In a way, it did help me to feel hopeful again. :)

Cancer treatment is undoubtedly costly and it really put a burden especially to the underprivileged patients and their family. For years MAKNA has been supporting various underprivileged cancer patients through financial assistance, non formulary drugs, chemo port and many more.

Hence, I pledge to fundraise through Klimb Kinabalu 2017 in hoping that this small deeds bring significant effect to the cancer patient’s life through MAKNA. Life is too short to be wasted anyway. You can’t be everyone’s hero, but sometimes somewhere, you are somebody’s hero!

I hope that you can support me to accomplish this cause. May every Ringgit you donated towards this good cause will be transformed into infinite blessings in your life!
Thank you supporters! :)
