In 2001, Malaysia Lotus Charity Care Centre Association was started by Dr R. Thomas Manoharan and his wife Sarah. Over the years, the old folks home that initially started with seven elderly people grew to become a home that now looks after a total of 51 underprivileged people, of which 26 are children ranging from 1 to 18 years old and 25 old folks. 

In February 2016, in an untoward incident, the home was burnt to the ground causing all of the donated food and daily necessities were destroyed and inhabitants of the charity home were forced to move into a rented house. In April 2016, the center’s founding director Dr Rev. Thomas Manoharan passed away, leaving his wife Sarah and their son Michael to continue taking care of the children and seniors.  

After long-struggling months, the house has finally been rebuilt. Thanks to all the generous help received from the public. However, the home monthly needs such as food supplies, rentals, tuition fees, utility bills, loans etc are still the biggest challenge especially during this difficult time as funds/donations for Sarah and Team have literally fallen off a cliff and she is behind with all kinds of commitments. 

The Lotus Monthly Giving Campaign aims to provide financial aid for the above concern. This would greatly give a huge & meaningful impact on Lotus Charity Care Centre as a shelter for the children & elderly.
