Greenpeace Malaysia's (GPMY) funding is 100% from the public, so we are transparent & highly credible in pushing for positive environmental changes, and effective campaigning!

Here are how your donation helps our work!

1. Hutan Simpan (Degazettement/Penyahwartaan)

(use this link to e-mail directly to the Selangor MB and EXCOs on this issue)
2020 - Jabatan Hutan Selangor wants to degazette Hutan Simpan Kuala Langat Utara (HSKLU).
  • 45,000 people opposes it + GPMY collected 300 physical signatures from the locals, send it to Jabatan Hutan Selangor.
  •  Pertahankan Hutan Simpan Kuala Langat Utara (PHSKLU) was formed with 8 other NGOs
  • A webpage was made, enabling the public to send e-mails directly to ALL Selangor ADUNs urging them to sign an AKUJANJI against the degazettement of HSKLU.
  • A motion to protect all forest reserves in Selangor was unanimously accepted by DUN Selangor!
  • We're not done yet. Phase 2 is coming up.

So do we neglect our forests during PKP... ?

2. Malaysia's Imported Plastic Waste Issue

2018   China stopped importing plastic waste for recycling, turning the exporters to countries like Malaysia.
  • Illegal dumping and burning of imported plastic waste becomes rampant in Malaysia. Especially in Port Klang.
  • GPMY publishes the Recycling Myth report and send it to ALL 56 ADUN of Selangor.
2019   MESTECC Minister Yeo Bee Yin raided several illegal factories in Klang.
  • Hundreds of factories are shut down.
  • GPMY pickets in front of Nestle HQ, Surian Tower as part of global campaign against SINGLE USE PLASTIC.
  • Illegal burning and dumping sites found in Perak.
  • Imported plastic waste are shipped back to their original countries.
  • GPMY collected samples from affected areas and sent it to England for analysis.
2020   GPMY publishes Recycling Myth 2.0, focuses on the pollution caused by imported plastic waste.
  • Sungai Muda, Kedah is found polluted by burning of imported plastic waste.
  • 30 lorries worth, every.single.day.

So do we ignore plastic pollution during PKP... ?

Never knew such things like these are happening in Msia. The news have never been really exposing such things to us and none of the information is widely accessible so when greenpeace contacted me my first thought was huh? was this a scam... but ok la its not. Now just hope our tree will be saved :)
