Hot & Cold Charity Run 2018 - Fundraising

The first edition Hot & Cold Run, held last year on the 16th of July 2017 at the University of Malaya Main Campus in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur was a runaway success.

The Run celebrates the heroic feats of Jerry Song and Jeff Lau, two young Malaysian runners that took part in two of the world’s toughest ultra-marathons in extreme hot and cold climates – the Gobi March Run in the Inner Mongolia Region and the Arctic 6633 Run respectively – in their bid to inspire young Malaysians to erase stigma and lead the fight to end AIDS. A total of 1,700 runners from all walk of life took part in the Run and along the way, helped to raise more than RM 200,000 for the event co-hosts, the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya (UM-FOM). The Run also received good media support; resulting in coverage worth RM 1.75 million in PR values.

Due to the strong reception in 2017, we have decided to once again organize the Hot & Cold Charity Run for 2018. The run tentatively plans to be held on 16 September 2018 (Sunday) at University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur.

MAF and the UM-FOM are set to replicate this success by organising the 2nd edition of the Hot & Cold Run on the 8th of July 2018. Similar to the inaugural edition, the Run will be held as a non-competitive run for 2,000 runners in three categories: 3 km, 5 km and 10 km. All proceeds from the run will benefit the Red Ribbon Youth Club and UMFOM Development Fund towards empowering future youth leaders in the ending AIDS movement and nurturing future doctors of Malaysia, respectively.
