My Story
Azhari is an 11 year old boy diagnosed with leukemia. He lives with his grandmother in Kuah, Langkawi who works in a processing factory. She provides for the family by earning what she can to feed 4 family members. They live a very simple life together under one roof. He's currently undergoing treatment but because Langkawi hasn't established a hospital yet on the island, his grandmother has to take him to and fro to Hospital Pulau Pinang which comprises of a 2 hour ferry ride and an additional 2 hour drive. They cover a total distance of 236kms and spend about RM200 for a one way trip. Accumulatively, all of their expenses on food, transport and basic necessities amounts to RM1,550. Despite all of this, Azhari still attends school and does his best to learn by getting good grades. He aspires to become teacher when he grows up.
