Aaron Olivie Kebah or known as Buddha is one of our beneficiary who has been with us since he was 2 years old. Buddha walked on thorns while he was a baby. Grown up in a happy family with 2 younger siblings, everything went well until his father passed away due to Tuberculosis. Thereafter, his mother was infected and have to be admitted in hospital. Buddha and the rest of siblings were sent to baby sitter’s home to be taken care off. Unfortunately, they were being abused by the caretakers. They will be beaten up and burnt their tongue with hot spoon.

A good Samaritan referred his mom’s condition to our Management Team. Agathians Shelter rescued Buddha in the year 2004. Being a baby, Buddha has suffered from severe depression as he had to separate from his helpless mother and he had never felt the love of a father since young. His entire family were shattered into pieces. There are days, he will jump out of bed with tears due to separation anxiety. Other times, he will be cornering himself in dark room with silence. What’s more a baby need to endure at 2 years old!

As days rolled by, Buddha was groomed to challenge his life challenges. We (Agathians Shelter) made it happened with the help of art and music therapy for him. He was more open to express himself through his art pieces and sports involvement. Buddha “unlocked” his obstacles and broke them by facing the impossible. His right attitude drove him towards success!

• Best sportsmen for under 18 years old category
•  Gold medallist for 4 consecutive years in school futsal tournament
•  Gold medallist for 3 consecutive years in for school cross country run
•  Bronze medallist in district level for 100m relay

2019

• Youth Leadership Award by Malaysian Institute of Management (Top Ten)

We are in the urge of uplifting Buddha to pursue his tertiary education as a compliment towards his passion in arts. He has started his learning journey at The One Academy in Diploma in Fine Arts. Buddha will be one of Agathians Shelter’s success story and breakthrough to every destitute youth. He is one of our live testimony for his perseverance and right attitude. Buddha made NO excuses to grow stronger!

We, Agathians Shelter is the pillar for him to lean on and the ladder to climb up. We are gathering a village of philanthropist to offshore him safely from his rough sail. We truly believe that right education at the right time is a strong armour for a warrior. Who is with us to lift him up? Give a chance and see the change!
