With pride, awe and admiration we have watched our friends at Zero Waste Malaysia grow steadily, efficiently over these past 2.5 years helping to spread the zero/low waste ethos to Malaysians. We have learnt so much from them, and have enjoyed many a collaboration and hatching ideas, plotting to try make Malaysia even more beautiful. During our Environment Week in Eaton, we did many fundraising activities to support the cause of Project 0. We had a Food Waste Management company called MAEKO to come to our school to teach the students the importance of properly disposing and re-using our leftover food. Moreover, they showed us videos of how easy it was to convert our food waste to compost and distributed small packets of compost to teachers and students to use at home. In addition to that, we also held a bake sale that lasted three days due to time shortage as the school term was coming to an end. Nevertheless, the bake sale was a success as many, many students were very interested in buying the delicious cookies and cakes we had on sale. We also did a recycling/reuse service, in which we collected people's old clothes that they did not wear anymore and turned them into cloth bags. This allowed more people to reuse their old clothes and use less plastic bags when they buy groceries in supermarkets. Another thing we did was asking students to bring in old jars that they didn't have a use for and fill it up with wax and transform it into a colourful candle of your choice. This was also overwhelmingly popular and due to all of these events, we were able to raise rm1000 in total. However, our initial (perhaps quite ambitious) target was rm2500 in which we hope to reach by creating this page. We hope you support us!

For my coming 27th birthday🎁, I would like to donate my birthday months to a project that I have been working on for more than 3 years with a group of lovely people, trying to raise RM5,000 💰 to directly support Zero Waste Malaysia. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Zero Waste Malaysia (ZWM) is a non-profit organisation that is supported by a group of passionate people like YOU and ME striving to increase the awareness of sustainable living as well as to promote zero waste lifestyle by leading as an example. Being a resource platform, we also strive to provide related resources for our community to access to live zero waste.We organised the Malaysia’s First Zero Waste Festival which almost generated NO TRASH with around a thousand of participants, and as well as the Zero Waste Second Festival that’s focusing on sustainable advocacy with the support from Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia Zero Waste Movement group. We published the Zero Waste Event Handbook (3 languages: BM, CN and EN) to encourage market and event organisers to implement a low waste event; during the event, pre-event planning as well as post-event stage. At the moment, we are working on to publish the Zero Waste Office Handbook. The most important to note is that they are all free to download on our website (www.zerowastemalaysia.org) because we believe that everyone has the privilege to access #sustainableliving Of course we are super thankful to our lovely 30,000+ community sharing the resources on our social media platform. And now, we have added 611 pins on our Zero Waste Malaysia Map. It’s a directory for local community to access to zero waste resources. The fund raised will be used to support the operations and programmes in year 2020 on several programmes including the enhancement of the Zero Waste Malaysia Map, Speakers Team Outreach Programme, Educational Lesson Plans, Zero Waste Pledge Programme, And hopefully, we will have educational trips such as landfill trips and recycling facilities trips soon.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For every RM100 raised through here, I pledge to ask a friend of mine to join me for a half day of(1) Tree planting activities or(2) Plogging (Trash Pick Up) at public streetThe rule of this pledge is to have different individual for respective activity that have been raised and you shall join me if you are interested! :) To make this project outcome more accountable, I will post the activity with #sueyee1222 on my Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/sueyeekhor/Completion date: By next year 2020 😉

Hi! We are Shu Huey and Yik Wei (Our instagram handle is zerowaste.fit) and we've been on our zero waste journey for a year now. When we first started, we were slowly giving up single-used plastics and began composting which reduced our trash to 1-2 times a week. Gradually it became once every couple of weeks and today we haven't thrown out the trash in more than 5 months! It's been a snowball effect!We started an instagram account to share our knowledge about zero waste and also our other passion, fitness and health. We hope to inspire others to empower themselves through these 3 things. Hi everyone, this is Aurora from Zero Waste Malaysia (ZWM)! ZWM is a registered nonprofit organisation fighting for a zero waste future. Since we started in 2016, We have done many amazing projects, for example the two Zero Waste Fest, the Asia’s first Zero Waste Map with accumulated 200k views; Zero Waste Event Handbook in 3 languages; a FB community with more than 30k members; the first-of-its-kind Zero Waste Pledge, and the Speakers Team that has gave numerous talks in various events. In the past four years, ZWM has been 100% run by volunteers and we think now is the right timing to move towards a professional management. As much as we would like to be financially independent and self sustainable, we need your help to jump start the process.From the 1st December, we launch a one-month long fundraising campaign to raise RM100,000 for ZWM to fuel our 2020 projects. This is the first time we do major public fundraising campaign, the target might seem huge but in front of the stressing climate crisis, we believe we need to be ambitious and speed up our work.In 2020, we plan to hire full time staff, to give more free talks to public schools, to give free certification services to the nonprofits, to design a lesson plan to be incorporated in the middle schools syllabus and to further upgrade the free Zero Waste Map. Everything that we have done, are doing and will be doing is for one goal: to change the system and rebuild a low waste society. We have received generous help from Boost, Fave, Google, Simplygiving, zero waste stores and many more partners but as a grassroots organisation, we need every one of you from the community to support our work.If you want to do something for the environment but don’t know how to, if you trust ZWM and believe in our values, if you think we have done good job and would like us to continue, you can help us by fund raising for us or donating any small amount to us. Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans. There may now be around 5.25 trillion macro and microplastic pieces floating in the open ocean. Weighing up to 269,000 tonnes. Plastics consistently make up 60 to 90% of all marine debris studied.> Plastic straw stucked in the turtle nostril> Full of plastic debris found in a dead seabird body> Hundreds of plastic bags found in sperm whales which died on the beach> A plastic cotton swab wrapped by the tail of a seahorse> Plastic band restricting the growth of grunt fish> and many more...We knew everything is happening and this is only a small part of the waste problem. What can we do about it?You can donate to Zero Waste Malaysia ("ZWM"), who is a non-profit organisation that promote zero waste lifestyle through educational campaign. WHY should I donate to ZWM?
