#RunwithFriendsIn early August 2020, We were challenged by our friend Loïc to run a half marathon. Since then, We have been working out quite hard every week to be phisically able to run the half marathon in Siem Reap. First we thought we could do it in 2h, but after some training, we think we can do it in 1h50min. Our Wives and children are supporting us (including pushing us out of bed at 5h30 am on Sundays). By doing so, we want to contribute with the fundraising of Friends. The raised money during those few days is to support children education in Cambodia. Do you want to help us to get to the finish line on the 6th December and support children's education in Cambodia??? Great!

I'm raising funds for Friends-International, the NGO I moved to Cambodia for one year ago. Friends provide holistic services for street children and other vulnerable children, youth and families to get them out of danger and back into school or training and safe employment. COVID-19 is pushing more families into poverty, causing a rise in parents turning to sex work and other dangerous occupations, as they have no other option to support their families. Your donation will help us get them out of risky situations and back into school or safe employment. Thank you!

Hello dear friends and family. I've just moved to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to work for Friends-International. I'm working on partnerships and fundraising for this fantastic organization. Friends-International saves lives and builds futures for vulnerable children, youth and their families in Cambodia and across South-East Asia. I'm running 5K this year at the Angkor Wat half-marathon. While I'm training for the event, I will also fundraise for Friends-International! Thank you for donating to Friends! FRIENDS INTERNATIONAL A LEADING SOCIAL ENTERPRISE SAVING LIVES AND BUILDING FUTURES OF THE MOST MARGINALIZED CHILDREN & YOUTH, THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR COMMUNITIES IN SOUTH EAST ASIA AND ACROSS THE WORLD.As part of the integration process, I've had to go into the field and see the communities where our team is doing good work. Experiencing everything first hand, although it is but a fraction of what our #EverydayHeroes from Friends International and Mith Samlanh are doing, is definitely worth running 10K for. I'm making a difference by raising money for a cause close to my heart. I am a team leader of one of Friends-International's initiative which is the ChildSafe Ambassadors, which aims to empower all members of society to protect children from all forms of abuse and exploitation. In wake of COVID-19, a lot of the fundraising initiatives and other fun runs that would have helped to support this important organisation has had to be cancelled. I'm not much of a runner (so I hope you're happy with a brisk walk) but this cause is close to my heart so any little amount will help us reach our goal.

A pandemic in 2020 was the last thing on everyone's mind. Sadly for all, it has come - it has destroyed industries and strong support networks for societies already vulnerable. We can all do a little to help each other out and I am looking forward to return to beautiful Cambodia and Angkor Wat to support the amazing Friends International and their work across S.E. Asia and beyond. My first and only half-marathon to-date was in 2018, also for Friends International - where with your generous help I managed to raise $1,358 (or 90% of my target). However - I suffered an injury in training, just 5 weeks before the marathon with clear instructions from the physio of no exercise for 4 weeks. It did not deter me and I took the recommended long break before the marathon and pushed until the very end with 2hrs and 12 mins finishing time.In 2020, I will be travelling from Indonesia to Cambodia to do the same run. I am committed to doing 21km once again (even through I said I will never do it again in my life ever)...I cannot increase the distance but I can try my best to better my time and raise more to help more! Below is some brief outline of the amazing work of Friends International and how far your kind donation can make a difference. Please note - all money raised goes direct to the organisation. All registration, travel, accommodation and other related costs are covered by me. With 4 months on the clock, I start training on the 20th August (after clearing compulsory 10-day quarantine in Lombok, Indonesia) with regular updates on this page.Why #RunWithFriends?
