Peak24 is a corporate relay race to end slavery by fundraising. Different businesses form team of 5 to complete 12 laps on Lugard Road counting up to a total of 24 miles / 38.6 km under 4.5 hours. The event is student-led and all proceeds will be donated to 24 Hour Race, a Hong Kong-founded, international youth charity to eradicate modern slavery. Come May 8, 2016, a team of us from the HKFam will participate (private group category) in Peak24, an corporate endurance relay race to raise funds and awareness to fight against modern slavery in Asia. Our team of 5-6 people will rotate, running round Victoria Peak, for a full relay marathon.Please help support our fundraising goal of HK$5,000!Cheer us on too on May 8, 2016.Peak24 is a start-up charity found in 2014 to support the long-term development and growth of 24 Hours Race around Asia and beyond. Funds raised by Peak24 will be donated to 24 Hours Race, a Hong-Kong funded, international youth charity inspiring students in five countries to eradicate modern slavery. Young people in Hong Kong, Singapore and and Kuala Lumpur have already thrown down the gauntlet, running thousands of kilometers in 24 hours to raise money and awareness to combat modern slavery through the 24 Hours Race program. It is estimated that today, more than 35 millions men, women and children are living in some form of slavery and the numbers are increasing everyday. We are participating in the Macquarie Peak 24 Race to raise money for the fight against modern slavery.Team MembersAndrew Graham (RMG)Aine O'Connell (Maccap)Polina Dzyuba (CFM)2 refugees from the Free to Run ProgramTwo great causes coming togetherThere are estimated to be up to 35 million modern slaves in the world today, many of which are in Asia, and the fight against modern slavery is at the forefront of Macquarie's philanthropic efforts. The 24 Hour Race movement has raised over HKD6.5 million in the last five years in support of the rehabilitation of victims of modern slavery in Cambodia and working to end the trafficking of young children in Nepal. Macquarie is the headline sponsor for this year's race and the Macquarie Foundation will be matching donations.Macquarie also participates in the Free to Run program which gives refugees in legal limbo in Hong Kong the opportunity to train as a group and run races. This is a fantastic initiative to raise the living standards of this disadvantaged group. I have participated in several of the Thursday night training sessions and can personally attest to the enjoyment and uplift this brings to the participants. Macquarie is supporting two full teams of refugees in participating, and we are lucky enough to have two of the fastest members of the group join our team for the race.

On 8 May 2016 (just a mere 48 hours after memo day) the Fantastic Five will look to conquer the mighty PEAK24 (http://peak24.org/ )!!!The Dream TeamThe team is comprised of:· Ash “the flash” Miles;· Les “wheezer” Isaac;· Chris “speedy” Wharton;· Alex “running legs” Oldfield; and· Nick “dad bod” Hodges What does it involve?The 5 of us divide up a marathon and try and crank it out as fast as possible without blowing up on multiple laps of the peak via Luguard Road. Why do it?We are doing because we are quick, but seriously it is to raise money for anti-slavery. Accordingly, would be most grateful if you could dig deep and donate to this worthy cause – the 5 of us will be hitting people up over the coming days in an attempt to raise a mere HKD15,000. The funds we raise for the Peak24 will be donated to the 24 Hour Race, a Hong Kong-founded, international youth charity inspiring students in five countries to join the movement to eradicate modern slavery. The money you help raise will directly benefit the expansion of the 24 Hour Race movement.Since 2010 the movement has engaged over 200,000 young people and raised over HKD 6,500,000 through events. These efforts have helped to stop the trafficking of Nepali children into abusive Indian circuses, provided new hope for rescued victims in Cambodia, and are currently eroding the business of trafficking children into exploitative orphanages in Nepal.Runners: Casey Gallagher, Patricia Lao, Lauren Petersen and two guest runners from Free to Run.

On Sunday May 8th, after months of strenuous mental preparation, a team of highly trained, peak conditioned athletes from Bain Capital Private Equity and Credit will join together again with more than 300 other participants for the second annual Peak 24, an endurance relay race to raise awareness and funds to combat modern-day slavery and human trafficking in Asia. Our 5-6 member team will rotate running around Hong Kong’s scenic Lugard Road, which encircles Victoria Peak, for a full relay marathon. In addition to the team’s efforts, Bain Capital Community Partnership is serving as the sponsor for the eight hour corporate race as well as a 24 hour student race, which takes place every November.Please help support our fundraising goal of HK$80,000! Your donations are tax deductible according to the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department. Peak 24 will issue a receipt for you or your company after receiving the donation. Please note - donations are not deductible to non-HK residents, though we hope that doesn't stop contribution to a great cause!Peak 24, organized by youth organization Running to Stop the Traffik, is Hong Kong’s first charity endurance race for corporations.
