Personal Challenge

I will run for 42 KM to raise funds for YCAB Learning Center. I have one goal, to bring more dropout kids back to where they belong, a school.

My Story

Everyone can extend goodness wherever, whenever and with whatever. That’s what I believe. This year, although it’s not easy, I challenge myself to run for 42 KM at Jakarta Marathon to raise funds for students at YCAB Learning Center.

Why?

Every time I visit the learning center and interact with the students, I see a glimmer of hope in their eyes. Many come from underprivileged family and have to stop going to school due to economic condition. However, since they got an opportunity to go to school, it opened up thousands of hopes and dreams. That’s what I want to give through this charity run.

In 2009, I participated in “Run to Care” event, then I joined “Indo Runners” community following my passion in running. Suddenly, an idea crossed my mind, “Why didn’t I use my running hobby for social good?” This year, I am committed to execute that idea.

My hope is that the students will have a sense of pride for themselves. Each one of them has extraordinary talent, passion and potential. What they need is hope. One thing that touched me deeply was when a kid shared his story, with his eyes glimmering and a smile full of pride said, “Now I can go to school. Soon, I can be the best photographer in the country!”

I desire to make a change and I’m sure you too. The good news is, you can make that change through my charity run. Not everyone can do marathon, but everyone can donate and extend their goodness. With your support, we can bring more underprivileged kids back to school. Together, we can make that a reality.
