I am partnering with Just Challenge to participate in the Mind Over Mountains programme aiming to challenge the stigma around mental health and break the culture of silence that often surrounds this problem. I will be fundraising for Mind HK, a mental health initiative, that ensures everyone in Hong Kong living with a mental health problem has the recognition, support and respect they need to make the best recovery possible.

My Story

I am partnering with Just Challenge to participate in the Mind Over Mountains programme aiming to challenge the stigma around mental health and break the culture of silence that often surrounds this problem. The challenge provides an incredible opportunity for me to meet new people from across, experience the culture and beauty of the Indian Himalayan mountains and push myself outside of my comfort zone. The goal will be to cover 80km over a 4 day period.

Why: Mental Health
Mental illnesses are among the leading causes of disabilities around the world, with depression being the third. 1 in 5 adults experience mental
illness, accounting for 15% of the total global burden of disease and what’s truly important from a global health point of view is that the vast majority of these individuals do not receive the care that we know can transform their lives – care that over and above medical and psychological treatment, includes social intervention.

What: Mind Over Mountains
Mind Over Mountains is a four-day trekking challenge in the Himalayas designed to help remove the stigma around mental health. This challenge will address the role we all play in the everyday world to help transform the lives of people affected by mental health problems, all whilst raising funds and awareness for Mind HK.

Who: Mind HK
Mind Hong Kong (Mind HK), a mental health initiative, ensures everyone in Hong Kong living with a mental health problem has the recognition, support and respect they need to make the best recovery possible. Through collaborations, innovation, and training, it facilitates the work of all those involved in improving mental health in Hong Kong.
