My Dream Home is a social enterprise aiming to solve the problem of lack of affordable housing in Cambodia through 1. To produce interlocking bricks that are environmental friendly, easy-to-use and affordable to sell; 2. Sell affordable housing to people at bottom of pyramid.
Based on statistic from government, the nation will need 1.5 M houses by 2030 mainly for people at bottom of pyramid. These demanding are not includes current demand and house for garment workers. In construction sector, Cambodia used obsolete building techniques, normally expensive and not environmentally friendly.
Our solution is we develop interlocking bricks that are environmental friendly, and easy-to-use. When putting together to make house use less cement, less labor intensive, less formwork so the result we can save 20-40% cost less than traditional construction. These bricks are locally made with abundant of raw materials and need not burning process. My Dream Home also build affordable house to sell to the poor people too. The cost of the house is around 5000 USD so people will pay us back 30%. In average people need to pay back 77 USD per month and 77$ is 30-40 $ above what they spend to rent. Within 5 years those people will have houses to live.
