My Story

I recently turned 30 and was lucky enough to receive an abundance of messages and love from around the world. I'm sure had we been together, we would have shared a drink to celebrate. If you can afford to, please consider donating the cost of a drink (or more if you can) to my fundraiser for Phare Ponleu Selpak school. An incredible number of people in Cambodia have lost their businesses or jobs due to the lack of tourism, and the UNBELIEVABLE Phare circus provides the non-profit arts school with 50% of it's funding. Phare Ponleu Selpak – meaning The Brightness of the Arts – is a Cambodian non-profit art school located in Battambang, empowering children, youth and communities through artistic, educational, social and community outreach programs since 1994. 

COVID-19 and its impact on Phare’s programs:
With the closure of the social circus performances in Siem Reap and Battambang mid-March and the economic recession caused by the pandemic Phare artists and community members are facing severe economic repercussions. To assess the immediate needs in the community Phare conducted social support surveys in 3 communities in collaboration with village chiefs and commune councils among families of 500 children & youth to evaluate the economic risk and provide emergency relief to the most vulnerable families. 

The surveys show that more than 80% of the families have been economically impacted and 43% reported health issues causing an additional financial burden. The immediate needs of the families are nutritious meals and hygiene supplies.

By donating to this fundraiser you will be providing the 134 most-at-risk families of students supported through Phare's programs with emergency relief packs.

These packages contain:
• rice & instant noodles
• sugar, salt, oil, fish sauce and soy sauce
• canned tuna
• soap
