Marielle Lee

Hello everyone!

Marina is a very dear friend of mine who is insanely talented. Her dream is to go on to become an architect and contribute towards reversing the homogenization of her country's (Malaysia) landscape through the preservation of its culture. She is one of the people I most admire, and I know she is someone that will literally change the world because of her passion. In recognition of her talent and hard work, she has received several university offers from prestigious schools in the UK and she would very much like to go there for university. However, her dreams are inhibited by her financial burdens at home. Unfortunately, her mother has been singlehandedly raising 4 children, with one of her siblings suffering from a chronic illness that racks up hefty medical bills. Her mother has also recently become unemployed, which means that their monthly income has been severely inhibited as well.To put things into perspective, the average annual school fees for UK universities are at 16000 pounds, or USD19,914. Multiply this by 4 years, the grand total is around USD80,000, not inclusive of the miscellaneous costs (like living expenses). This is a huge investment and out of reach considering their financial ability at this moment in time.To me, I feel that everyone has the right to obtain the education they want. I wish money did not matter, but it does. Marina is an outstanding individual, and out of all the people I know, she absolutely deserves to receive the education she feels will benefit her and her family (and the world for that matter) most.
