ZIPZAP's 'Changing Shoes, Changing Lives' is a fundraising initiative to provide children and youths in KL with footwear that is adaptive, fits comfortably over orthotics and promotes independence and self-esteem whilst looking 'cool!'
THE PROBLEM?Finding footwear in Malaysia, that embodies universal design, meaning they both appeal to and work for everyone, is near impossible! And when you do find it, it is not financially viable for the majority! Many children and adults in Malaysia who wear orthotics; have autism, cerebral palsy or other developmental disorders, are wearing shoes that are too big, hinder their independence, development and even their self-esteem!
OUR BIG GOAL
At ZIPZAP, we want to change this and change lives!
'Changing Shoes, Changing Lives' is a fundraising campaign with a mission of RAISING RM90,000 to provide 500 PAIRS OF SHOES from BILLY Footwear in the US, to children and youths with special needs in Malaysia through NGOs and Social Enterprises including:
- National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM)
- Autisme Malaysia
- Gabungan Anak-Anak Palsi Serebrum (GAPS)
- Inclusive Outdoor Classroom
Our primary goal - supporting children in gaining independence, autonomy and self-confidence whilst ensuring foot development and health!
OUR TARGET & AIMPRIMARY TARGET: TO RAISE 50% OF OUR GOAL TOTALLED AT RM45,000 by end of May/mid-June
SECONDARY TARGETTO RAISE REMAINING 50% OF OUR GOAL TOTALED AT RM45,000 by July/mid-August
