AFA Singapore

For the last 30 years, AfA has been Singapore's leading non-governmental AIDS organization, contributing to prevention efforts and keeping prevalence rates low. Our work in HIV prevention, treatment and control has won international recognition. In 2010, the World Health Organization awarded us with the prestigious Lee Jong-wook Memorial Prize for Public Health.

History. Formed in 1988, Action for AIDS (AfA) started out as a voluntary, community based organisation. It became a registered charity in 1994 and attained IPC status (Institute of Public Character) in 2004 under the Ministry of Health.

Mission. Our objectives are to provide support and assistance to persons living with HIV and AIDS (PWAs); to increase awareness, education and understanding of AIDS and HIV infection; to combat discrimination and stigmatisation of (PWAs) and their loved ones and to encourage AIDS-related research activities in Singapore
