Xpat Golf Charity Group are fundraising for Persatuan Penyakit Motor Neuron Malaysia
Help us do something truly special! Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a condition that affects the brain and nerves. MND has no cure, but treatments exist to help reduce its impact on a person's daily life. Malaysia MND https://mndmalaysia.org is a nonprofit organisation founded by medical professionals and volunteers with a vision to realise a world without MND. Sadly, its supply of life-extending machines is inadequate to meet the increasing numbers of new patients each year.
My Story
Xpats Golf Community (XGC) was founded in 2018 "to give something back to the local community.” Tragically, one of our dear friends, B.J. Chatham, was killed a year later in a hit-and-run accident whilst driving for work between Melaka and Johor Bahru. "Beej" (as he was affectionately known) was a big supporter of Malaysia MND, so we decided to honor his legacy with this worthy charity. Our first event in 2019 attracted only 20 players, but we still raised over RM7,000. Inspired to do more, in last year's event, we exceeded everyone's expectations with a six-fold increase in fundraising. That night we presented a cheque to the Chairman of Malaysia MND for RM91,800.
Thanks to you, our members and sponsors, this underfunded charity (run by only volunteers) continues to provide critical resources to those who suffer most from this awful disease.
