My Story
Good day! My name is Charlene Pang Ying Ling and I am a 19 year old Law student from Taylor's University. This year, I have decided to put my semester break to good use by volunteering with AIESEC Taylor's University to raise funds for the National Cancer Society Malaysia / Persatuan Kanser Kebangsaan Malaysia (NCSM) under our Cancer Awareness project, Here For You (H4Y).
What is AIESEC?
Founded in 1948, AIESEC is a non-governmental, and not-for-profit organization entirely run by youth for youth and provides a platform for young people to develop their leadership potential through international internships and volunteer opportunities.Who is the National Cancer Society Malaysia?
NCSM is the first not-for-profit cancer organisation in Malaysia that provides education, care and support services for people affected by cancer and the general public.- Highly subsidised screening for the public and free screening for the underprivileged.
- Nuclear imaging services at a highly subsidised rate.
- 'A home away from home' for the underprivileged child cancer patients as well as their caregivers from outside of Kuala Lumpur.
Why did I join as a Local Virtual Volunteer (LVV)?
As a student and as Malaysian citizen, I hope that, by volunteering, I am able to give back to the society and to support these B40 cancer patients and provide a solid and worthwhile impact to the society. This is especially important because due to the pandemic, NCSM has been struggling to maintain the treatment of these cancer patients. Therefore, I have started this fundraising page in hopes that you will join me to spread the awareness and make a difference in the lives of these cancer warriors and fighters.Why should I help?
By supporting this campaign, you will be lending a helping hand to National Cancer Society Malaysia to continue their operations and ease the burden of cancer patient's families to pay for their expensive treatments. Throughout the next four weeks, I aim to raise a minimum of RM 500 under the H4Y project to support NCSM in their continuous effort for the Malaysian Cancer community.Along with the other volunteers, we, at Here For You, aim to raise a minimum of RM 8000. All proceeds will be donated to NCSM.
