My Story
We are from SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEBANGSAAN LOK YUK LIKAS, one of the Top 10 teams in I CAN School Challenge 2019 is fundraising to represent Malaysia in I CAN Global Children Summit 2019 for our social innovation "I STAND FOR" ENGLISH SPEAK UP PROGRAM!
According to a survey among 16 year-olds, 31.3% expresses shyness and fear of criticism are two main factors that deter them from speaking up in public. This inspired the team to make schools as the place for students to find their voice and stand up against the world's issues through Speak Up workshops and TACT Ambassadors Team (peer mentoring). The program is gaining traction from students and educators.
