The spread of Covid-19 tells us to take care of our nature instead of exploiting it. As we rise above the challenges brought by the pandemic, we should also do what we can for nature to heal! My Story

What change do YOU hope to see in a post quarantine world?

We cannot go back to our old lifestyle. Our exploitation of wildlife and the environment is the main reason why we are experiencing extreme weather conditions like the recent Typhoon Ambo and the diseases like COVID-19. What we should do is to work together in building a better normal: a greener planet where we are healthier and more climate-resilient.

A better normal–one where no Filipino will be vulnerable to pandemics, disasters, and climate impacts–is possible. And each of us can contribute to this transition in our own unique way!  Through maintaining green and sustainable lifestyles and promoting such solutions in our cities and municipalities.

We are now experiencing environmental and health crises as the consequences of our accumulated actions, and not all are equally affected. We are seeing that the people hardest hit by environmental crises are the same people who are most affected by the pandemic.

While some urban centers are reported to have improvements due to lesser pollution, experts agree that there is still a lot of work to be done. This is the perfect time to do it! The permanency of the improvements that we are experiencing cannot be ensured without follow through.

We need government and collective action that’s inspired by community-based solutions we see now. We need a transformative recovery plan that puts us–the people and the environment–at the center!

The pandemic has shown us what needs to be changed and how we should change. More than ever, Greenpeace Philippines will continue to work in the midst of the pandemic to call on partners and stakeholders to re-imagine, co-create and work on alternative solutions towards a better normal post-COVID-19.

We each have a role in this too because any lasting change we want to see in our cities and municipalities should start with ourselves. Only together can we shape a #BetterNormal towards #GreenRecovery
