Trinity Kids Malaysia are fundraising for Lang Tengah Turtle Watch

My Story

Trinity Kids Malaysia is raising money to support the Lang Tengah Turtle Watch's (LTTW) Turtle Nest Adoption Programme.

The journey of the Sea Turtle begins with the mother turtle ascending ashore to nest. Once a nest has been completed, the mother doesn't return to fend for it anymore  - opening the nest (and resulting hatchlings) up to a world of danger, and eventually - extinction. Throughout the years, there's been a large consumptive demand for turtle eggs,  making them highly sought after by tender holders because of its profitability.  Even up until today, the sale of Sea Turtle eggs is unfortunately a legal business in the state of Terengganu, Malaysia, but still remains illegal in the Eastern states of Sabah & Sarawak.

Because of that, the incredible team at the Lang Tengah Turtle Watch (LTTW) had initiated the Turtle Nest Adoption Progamme, where specific and intentional efforts are put into REPURCHASING turtle eggs from their "legal owners" to STOP the sale of turtle eggs. These eggs are then lovingly incubated and tended to in the LTTW hatcheries until the hatchlings are released into the sea to start their arduous but hopefully long lives. The LTTW Turtle Nest Adoption Programme is an independent project in need of a steady amount of funding in order to continue their efforts to fight for the survival of sea turtles - buyback of turtle eggs, maintenance of hatcheries on their mainland project site in Dungun, Terengganu etc. 

Funds are also required for the upkeep of LTTW’s camp site on Lang Tengah island, where the project started in 2013. On Lang Tengah island, the LTTW team watch over nesting turtle mothers and their nests which are laid naturally on the island’s beaches from poachers and natural predators. 

The Lang Tengah island project relies on the support of volunteers and interns from all over the world and from all walks of life. This incredible team of people have all leaned in for this amazing cause - to preserve and protect the wildlife of Nature, the very entities that make the Earth beautiful. You, too, can be a part of it - doesn't matter from near or far.
