My Story

Hello there! 
We are students from INTI Subang taking the course of Community Service (MPU3442) which requires us to do voluntary work at an organisation of our choice! Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, our voluntary work narrowed down to only an option: fundraising. Despite the circumstances, we're trying to make the best out of the situation by choosing an organisation that is meaningful to us & we are passionate about! As we share the details of the organisation, we hope that you share the same passion with us. 

Buku Jalanan Chow Kit (BJCK) is an NGO that is working to provide equal education opportunities to all the children in the Chow Kit catchment area. Their organisation firmly believe that education is the right for everyone, regardless of their circumstances. Education should be holistic and it is more than what happens inside the classroom. How students spend their time and who they interact with forms the foundation of their character. In order for them to become responsible and contributing members of the society, they believe that at risk youths need a safe environment to spend their time. To accomplish this, they have set up a safe space and resource centre where the children of Chow Kit can have a safe and stimulating refuge to play, hang around, read and interact with positive role models. It is also a venue for our community tuition initiatives and home-schooling programme for stateless/displaced children who did not have access to public school.
They have 3 simple objective: 
i. To provide skills-based training to further develop the children potential.
ii. To provide a resource centre, an educational and a safe space that help to improve the underprivilaged children. 
iii. To increase literacy rate to 90%

We, alongside BJCK, believe that education is a crucial way to break the chain of poverty. What about you?
