My Story
Philippe and Cosmas Grelon, Father-and-Son team, join the
2024 Rolex China Sea Race in a double-handed boat named A Plastic Ocean.
As one of the favourites for the 565 nautical mile offshore race from Hong Kong
to the Philippines, they have partnered with Hong Kong charity A Plastic
Ocean (APO).
Philippe and Cosmas have been raising awareness and advocating for the protection of our oceans in Hong Kong and Taiwan radio interviews, photoshoots and seminars in the run up to the race - THANK YOU!
Lifelong sailors, they are passionate about connecting people to the ocean and raising awareness of the urgent need to mitigate against pollution; a passion echoed by APO and their work to be part of the solution through science, education and policy advocacy.
Why Donate and support?
- A Plastic Ocean will be featured in countless global media throughout the race, meeting APO objective of raising awareness of the plight of our oceans
and the need to act now, to audiences around the world including BBC, YouTube, etc
- The Father-and-Son team is unique as the only double handed father-son team, racing against much larger boats with crews of up to 15 people
- Last year they finished 1st in the double-handed division and 2nd overall, attracting significant global media attention
- This year they are racing to WIN and will be ambassadors for APO
- The fundraising goal is HK$300,000. After covering awareness campaign and race costs of up to HK$110,000, further donations will go to supporting APO’s science, education, and environmental programmes
