Find out more at www.peak24.org

May 9 2015 | 8am-1pm Lugard Road, Victoria Peak

Team of 5, 42km marathon

Get ready for Peak24 - the corporate relay race to end slavery. The 24 Hour Race team is back, this time with an event for the city's business leaders. Young people in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur have already thrown down the gauntlet, running thousands of kilometers in 24 hours to raise money and awareness to combat modern slavery. Now it's your turn. Challenge your team to a blazing time in the Peak Marathon. Enjoy the peak, bring the family, and join the movement.

Peak24 is supporting RTST (HK) and Freedom Matters (Nepal)

Running to Stop the Traffik (www.24hourrace.org)

RTST, a charitable organization in Hong Kong, is organizing Peak24 to support the expansion of its "24 Hour Race" events beyond Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur to 5 new cities in China, Australia and Taiwan. RTST facilitates these student-led events to raise funds and awareness to confront human trafficking and modern slavery. These events empower student leaders to create a rallying point in their community for philanthropy, engagement with a critical human rights issue, and support for an organization on the front lines of the fight against this injustice.

Freedom Matters (www.freedommatters.org.uk)

Freedom Matters is a small, dynamic organization working to address the trafficking and exploitation of children in Nepal. Through the Hong Kong 24 Hour Race, students in HK have been working with and supporting Freedom Matters' work to confront the practice of enslaving children - even those with families - into orphanages and child homes. Brought into these institutions through fraud and deception, proprietors use these children to solicit funds from well-intentioned foreign donors and volunteers - often through threats, abuse and false promises. Of Nepal's 700+ registered orphanages, over 90% are located in Nepal's 5 (of 75) most touristed districts.

In 2015 we are working with Freedom Matters to develop a revolutionary Child Trauma Management Centre in Kathmandu, which will provide transitional shelter and professional psychological counseling to children who've been subjected to the abuse of trafficking, exploitation and modern slavery. If we want to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and erode these practices of abuse, we have to invest in real solutions and futures for those affected by PTSD and other trauma.

Funds donated beyond the registration minimum will be allocated to our partners Freedom Matters. Their Trauma Management property is currently being developed at a location in Lalitapur, Kathmandu, and is expected to be able to house 80 children at a time - though we don't aim to re-institutionalize but provide temporary support with placement services into their families or alternative care.
