Ready. Set. Serve.

Secondary students at OIS are constantly challenged to make a difference in their school, community, and world. One of the ways students do this is by participating in the annual Run-for-a-Cause fundraising campaign. What makes this campaign special is that it is entirely student-led. This year, OIS secondary students have selected one cause to run for: Run for T-PEC.

T-PEC (The Peace Education Centre) is a non-profit, Myanmarese refugee learning center and boarding home based in downtown Kuala Lumpur. Their mission is to provide education, shelter, and a high standard of living for approximately 50 refugee children (ages 3-18) who have been forced to flee their homes because of the ethnic violence in Myanmar. Over the past two years, OIS students have had a handful of opportunities to serve T-PEC and to build meaningful relationships with their staff and students. In November of 2022, a group of OIS students brought doctors to T-PEC to perform health screenings for the all the students. Now, OIS students want to help provide T-PEC students with dental care. By sponsoring a runner and donating to this cause, you will be supporting a student-led initiative to help provide free dental care to all T-PEC students. As part of this initiative, a group of OIS students will also be creating lessons about hygiene and proper dental care to share with the T-PEC students in the coming months. Thanks for your support!
