OUR HERO'S QUESTS:

GOBI MARCH CHALLENGE

JERRY SONG ZHI LIANG is a 20-year-old third year medical student at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya (UMFOM) who will attempt the Gobi March Challenge from 18-24 June 2017. It is a 250 km seven-day, six-stage, self-supported endurance foot race that follows the Ancient Silk Road in the Xinjiang Province in Northwest China combining a cool weather mountain trail race and hot desert race. The route follows the Tian Shan Mountains, one of the largest mountain ranges in Asia, and a trek across the rough terrain of the Black Gobi Desert.

 THE 6633 ARCTIC ULTRA CHALLENGE

JEFF LAU JUN TEAN, a 26-year-old veteran marathon runner from Kuala Lumpur, is set to become the FIRST MALAYSIAN to participate in the 9th Arctic 6633 Ultra Challenge from 7-13 March 2017. Widely regarded as one of the toughest, coldest, windiest ultra-distance foot races on the planet, the self-supported foot race will cover a staggering distance of 563 km across the Arctic Circle, amidst temperature that drops to minus 50 degree Celsius. Lau is no stranger to extreme sports, having completed the equally challenging Marathon des Sables -- a 257 km foot race across the scorching Sahara Desert -- not once but TWICE - in 2014 (he was the youngest Malaysian to finish the race at age 24) and 2016 - and succeeded in raising more than RM 200,000 for the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF).
