Charity Right is organizing iftar program this ramadhan with two of our longstanding projects, Baitul Ehsan orphanage and Maahad Darul Hijrah. This iftar program is also a fundraising event whereby we hope to raise enough money to keep supporting them for another year.

Some background on these projects:

Baitul Ehsan is an orphanage that provides shelter and education for about 100 orphans and neglected children located at Taman Maluri, Kuala Lumpur. It is founded in 2008 by a husband and wife team who still managed and run the orphanage today. In addition to sheltering the orphans, this organization strives to provide the children under their care with a well-rounded upbringing which includes Tahfiz Quran, Arabic language, secular education, life skills and sports. Charity Right has been supporting them with monthly food aid since April 2016.

For RM 360 you can ensure that an orphan in Baitul Ehsan continues to receive the food aid he/she needs for a year.

Maahad Darul Hijrah is a school that doubles as an orphanage for about 80 Rohingya refugee children and orphans located at Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur. At 3 years old this is a relatively new institution that is rapidly growing due to the recent crisis in Myanmar. Due to their refugee status, these children are limited in their choices for schools and rely on Darul Hijrah to provide them with the basic education and skills they need to survive. Charity Right has been supporting them with monthly food aid since July 2016.

For RM 540 you can ensure that a refugee in Darul Hijrah continues to receive the food aid he/she needs for a year.

The more funds you can raise, the more children you can support.

Updates on Iftar with Maahad Darul Hijrah children @ Surau Qardul Hasan, Valencia Sungai Buloh, 31st May 2017

On a fine evening in Ramadhan, all smiles of the refugee children beamed like the cresent of the night's moon. Being the inaugural iftar held by Charity Right this year, this event was made possible by our generous donors, venue sponsor, supporters and all the enthusiastic people that made it a better way to end a merciful day of fasting.

Right after the sunset, following the sunnah of Rasulullah S.A.W., they broke fast with some dates and water, followed by Maghrib prayer upon the calling of adhan. Soon after, the awaited iftar commenced. The children couldn't be happier upon seeing the nasi ayam, fruits and the cold refreshing juice before their eyes. And an ice-cream treat on top of all, the world must be a better place if the joy of the kids could last forever.

A lot of us sit down to savor our iftar with too much food along with the warmth of friends and family. This humble iftar, served with decent meals from the help of many, could mean a once-in-a-lifetime privilege for these refugee children. All that there was during the iftar, praises to Allah was all being heard of. For every penny donated, know that beyond the happiness that these kids exude, the rewards in the hereafter await you, inshaAllah.

Updates on Iftar with Baitul Ehsan children @ Surau Qardul Hassan, Valencia Sungai Buloh, 2nd June 2017

On this beautiful evening, Allah S.W.T granted us the blessing to spend iftar with the orphans of Baitul Ehsan. Around 80 tahfiz children aged 4 to 17 attended to merry this event in Surau Qardul Hassan, Valencia Sungai Buloh.

Coming from Taman Maluri, Cheras, the gruelling 2-hour traffic did not deter them from reciting Quran and zikr while waiting for the sun to set. MashaAllah, the sabr and imaan ingrained in these tahfiz children was inspiring indeed. In the spirit of Ramadan, let us be reminded again that the two important deeds are reciting Quran and doing charity. It's not about how much we do it, it's about the sincerity of our deed, no matter how tiny it may be.

When the adhan was heard, the students uniformly shut the Quran, recited the breaking fast prayer and began with dates and water - following the sunnah of Rasulullah S.A.W. Not much later, the congregation Maghrib prayer was carried out in the surau hall. Then, the awaited iftar finally came. They especially loved the strawberries, nasi tomato and kuih muih prepared by our kind donors, regular sponsors and generous individuals who made the event possible.

Updates on 2nd Iftar with Baitul Ehsan children @ Baitul Ehsan, Taman Maluri Cheras, 14th June 2017

Home is where the barakah is.

Once again, Allah granted Charity Right to break fast with the children of Baitul Ehsan. This time round, it’s at their home. The feeling of affection and blessing lies around their surrounding as we entered the front gate of the house. The wealth of knowledge is vastly presented on their ceiling-to-floor bookshelves of Qurans and Islamic books which have been educating the orphans almost a decade. Sahl ibn Sa’d reported: The Prophet S.A.W. said, “The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise”. With a few teachers and housekeepers who have chosen to care for the orphans of Baitul Ehsan, may Allah always bless them for their tireless deeds.

Nearing Maghrib, the children came down to prepare food on the tables. Prior to the visit, we asked them if they had any food request. Having had some, we considered the nutritional value that the foods provide for this rarely-served feast. Alhamdulillah, they really appreciated the occasional menu - pizzas, breadsticks, donuts and strawberries (some of them officially declared it as their favourite fruit!). Despite the brief time spent during the iftar, the pure joy and meaningful stories shared with the children definitely marked a place in their hearts.
