About Event

The Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) is celebrating Daffodil Days during the month of April 2012. The daffodil is a global symbol of hope for cancer patients and survivors and during Daffodil Days, SCS aims to raise cancer awareness and to give hope and encouragement to those battling cancer, those who have survived cancer and those caring for cancer-afflicted family members and friends.

Through Daffodil Days, SCS hopes to raise funds and raise cancer awareness. With cancer being the leading cause of death, accounting for one in every four deaths in Singapore, there is a good chance that everyone’s life will be touched by this disease at some point in time. You can give hope and reduce the impact of cancer in Singapore through your donation or by helping to spread the cancer message.

The 2XU Compression Run, which was held on 1 April 2012, was proud to support the Singapore Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days.

10,000 participants took part in the 2XU Compression Run, which was held at Nicoll Highway. Guest-of-Honour Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, graced the event and went for a 2km walk with the SCS beneficiaries. Pink Apple, the run organiser, donated $20,000 to Daffodil Days.

The Singapore Cancer Society is a self-funded voluntary health organisation that is dedicated to minimising the impact of cancer on society through the provision of cancer treatment subsidies and financial assistance to need cancer patients, public education, cancer screening, home hospice care services, research and advocacy.
