About Event

Sponsor a dancer to help create biodiversity in our forest.

Once, Northern Thailand, where New Life is located, was lush with tropical forests.  But, between World War II and the 21st century, trees were cleared for farming and teak was cut commercially with little replanting.  As a result, much of the land is deforested, making it susceptible to flooding, soil erosion and disease, since habitats for many of the "good" plants and insects have been destroyed.

Deforestation is one of Thailand's worst environmental problems. And one we want to tackle--at least on our 70+ acres.  But we need your help.

We want to replant our original forest, attracting back the insects, wildlife, and plants that used to thrive here.  Even humans will have a place-- on quiet walking meditation paths carved through the forest.

Our goal is to raise 150,000 Baht so we can

* Plant 100 native trees and organically fertilize them for 3 years.

* Create pathways through the forest for silent meditation with signage identifying plants.

* Build a small mud brick house in the forest for a long-term volunteer who will care for our newly planted trees, ensuring survival. (As part of their therapy, residents will have an opportunity to reconnect with nature by tending the trees.)

We will dance for trees.

We're so passionate about planting trees that we're willing to dance for it  IN PUBLIC.

We're going to dance as a group at the Chiang Rai mall on Saturday afternoon June 1, 2013. You can join us, at least in spirit, by sponsor the dancer who sent you this email.

It's easy.  Just follow the link to the Simply Giving page and make your donation through PayPal in Thai Baht. A video of the big Dance for Biodiversity will be posted on our blog after the event.

Planting and caring for trees is good for the environment, good for us and all living beings.

Thanks for your support.
