Perform the ultimate act of charity, save up to three lives

My Story

Donating blood products is essential to community health, one blood donation can save up to three lives.

Hi, my name is Sainam, currently a student from Burapha University, Chanthaburi Campus. I am now urging all eligible and healthy donors to donate blood with the Thai Red Cross Society in the campaign “Blood Donation Drives”, or you can walk-in to the Thai Red Cross National Blood Center in Bangkok, all Regional Blood Centers throughout the country or the nearest hospitals.

Due to the new wave of COVID – 19 outbreak in Thailand, blood donations have declined, leading to blood shortages across the country. Blood donations have dramatically decreased by 50% making blood supplies run low. As a result, the Thai Red Cross National Blood Center is unable to supply enough blood to hospitals (TRCS, 2021).

Before blood donation
-Get enough sleep
-Be healthy and get ready for blood donation. Do not donate blood if you feel unwell
-If you are taking medicine, always inform doctors/nurses/ health inspectors
-Drink 3-4 glasses of water before donating blood which help to reduce the chance of fainting after blood donation
-Eat regular meals before donating blood. Avoid eating high-fat food such as pork leg stew with rice, chicken rice, curry, and desserts 6 hours before donating blood
-Refrain from smoking 1 hour before and after donating blood
-Refrain from drinking alcohol for 24 hours
Please show your National ID card before donating blood every time
