About Appeal

The Peace Education Centre (T-PEC) Malaysia is a non-profit, Myanmarese refugee community learning center based in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Our mission is to provide education, shelter, and a high standard of living for approximately 100 refugee children. Many ethnic minority families go through severe hardship and abuse while fleeing the military in Myanmar. The majority of the students at T-PEC come from the hill tribes in the Chin State of Myanmar. The school is protected by the UNHCR, but they are fully dependent on the generous giving of kind donors in order to be able to pay for rental, food and groceries, medical bills, and school supplies. Oasis International School has worked to grow a relationship between the itself and Peace Education Center. Last year two grades at Oasis had the privilege to serve them during Eagle week and we are doing our best to continue serving them. The HOSA (Future Health Professionals) club members have planned sets of health screenings with certified health professionals to ensure that the children at T-PEC are healthy. If the children are not healthy, we believe that they should have the resources to get a diagnosis and proper treatement. Most of the fund created by your generous donations will be used for things like doctor appointments, further check-ups, or even something like the need for glasses. A small part of the donations will go to paying the doctors in the future for their time.

Our goal as a club is to raise RM5000 each school year for T-PEC for two reasons. The first and main reason is to have a fund of money for their school to use when there are medical emergencies or needs at their school. The second is to pay for medical professionals to come to screen the children at the school for medical issues. 
  • 85% of the donations will go to the medical expenses of the school
  • 15% of the donations will be used to pay doctors, dentists, and ophthalmologists. 
Any leftover money will stay in the account for them to use next year.
