Today, I saw Esther. Nearly one year after the surgery. She's doing very well. She is bigger, stronger and taller !! Her little sister is back to the 2nd place for the size ! Since her heart surgery because her heart manage much more better Oxygen to the body, even the brain will better. Esther speak more than before and when I saw her she was full of energy. 

Next step for her will be the abdominal reconstruction. As you remember, when she was born, she has bladder, intestines outside of her body. The Doctor had to put back all organs inside in right place and left some big drain opening. We must help her to get the surgery in order to close those holes and get a normal life.

But first of all, she must get an United Card from UNHCR to be recognised as a refugee. In this way the price of the surgery will be half !

Esther is doing very well because of you all, generous donators. Everyday she's healthier and stronger. The Doctor told the parents that her heart is doing very well now. We are waiting for the next step now ! the abdominal reconstruction. As soon as I have news, I let you know. In waiting, have a look to the pictures !

On Monday the 22nd, Esther left the hospital.

This has been an amazing display of generosity by so many people and organisations.We have been able to arrange for Esther's dental visit check up and to plan admission on this Friday 12th. We are so grateful for all the donations.

Everything went well for Esther, she now at home with her family. she will come back every month for medicine. 

Now the next challenge will be the second operation. we wait for more information from Ipoh hospital who use to deal with Esther's disease.

Esther was born on July 26, 2015 in Malaysia. She is a refugee from the Chin community in Myanmar. In addition to being born a refugee, Esther was born with a rare syndrome known as OEIS (sometimes called Cloacal exstrophy CE). It is a severe birth defect where the development of the lower abdominal wall is interrupted during embryonic development, leaving many organs exposed. In Esther's case, her bladder, intestines and reproductive organs were exposed at birth. Esther required immediate surgery after birth to create a means to evacuate urine and stool. She was sent home shortly after the surgery to the love and care of her parents. A couple years later, a baby sister (Mee Mee) was born. Esther, Mee Mee and her parents live in Ipoh, Malaysia, a city north of Kuala Lumpur. Esther's father is a plantation worker and her mother stays at home with both girls. Esther appears to have normal mental development, but at three years old, she continues to have severe physical limitations, with a high risk of infection. Esther has been seen by multiple doctors and surgeons who have recommended follow-up abdominal reconstruction surgery. However, before Esther can undergo abdominal surgery, she requires cardiac surgery. The surgeons have analyzed her heart condition and are recommending three procedures at one time. The cost of Esther's cardiac surgery is estimated at 70,000 Malaysian Ringgit. Without this surgery, Esther's prognosis for a lengthy quality of life is very short. It's only another step for Esther in her difficult life! A donation of anything at all, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. Aujourd'hui, j'ai vu Esther. Près d'un an après la chirurgie. Elle va très bien. Elle a pris du poids, elle est plus forte et plus grande !! Sa petite soeur est de retour à la 2e place en taille !  Depuis son opération cardiaque, son cœur distribue beaucoup mieux l'oxygène  à tout son corps, même au niveau cérébral. Esther parle plus et mieux qu'avant. Quand je l'ai vue, elle était pleine d'énergie.

La prochaine étape pour elle sera la reconstruction abdominale. Comme vous vous en souvenez, à sa naissance, elle avait la vessie et les intestins en dehors de son corps. Les chirurgiens ont dû replacer tous les organes à la bonne place et laisser des ouvertures dans son abdomen. Nous devons l’aider à se faire opérer pour fermer ces orifices et ainsi avoir une vie normale.

Mais avant tout, elle doit être reconnue comme réfugiée. De cette façon, le prix de la chirurgie sera de moitié ! Ainsi, dés qu'on a le feu vert pour l'aider, je vous tiendrais au courant. Merci de votre attention.

Esther va beaucoup mieux. Elle grandit enfin et devient de plus en plus forte. Sa petite soeur n'a plus qu'à bien se tenir ! Le médecin, a dit aux parents que son coeur battait bien. Nous attendons maintenant de connaitre la date de la prochaine étape, la reconstruction abdominale. Dés que j'ai des nouvelles je vous tiens informée. Esther est sortie de l'hôpital le lundi 22 octobre.

 Cela a été une incroyable démonstration de générosité de la part de tant de personnes et d'organisations. Son admission à l'hôpital a eu lieu ce vendredi 12.

Elle est maintenant retourné auprès de sa famille à Ipoh. Je vais rester en contact avec elle car elle a besoin de médicament régulièrement. 

Pour la seconde opération, nous attendons des nouvelles de l'hôpital de Ipoh qui la connait bien. Je vous tiendrais informé.

Le père d'Esther est un employé de plantation et sa mère reste à la maison avec les deux filles. Esther semble avoir un développement mental normal, mais à trois ans, elle continue de souffrir de graves limitations physiques, avec un risque élevé d’infection. Esther a été vue par plusieurs médecins et chirurgiens qui ont recommandé une chirurgie de reconstruction abdominale. Cependant, avant qu'Esther puisse subir cette chirurgie abdominale, elle nécessite une chirurgie cardiaque. Son coeur est hypertrophié avec de grosses fuites. Son sang n’est pas assez oxygéné. Les chirurgiens cardiaques recommandent trois procédures en une opération. Le coût de la chirurgie cardiaque d'Esther est estimé à 70 000 Ringgits malaisiens. Sans cette chirurgie, le pronostic vital d’Esther est court. Ce n'est qu'un pas de plus pour Esther dans sa vie difficile! Un don, petit ou grand, serait grandement appréciable.
