Hello all, I am Flora Akter from Bangladesh currently studying in Malaysia under Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur. I am a final year student pursuing Bachelor's in Architecture. Let me share my story here, I came to Malaysia on 2015 under a student visa. My Cumulative Grade Point Average . Unfortunately, I have stopped studying now for a year.

During my semester break back in May 2019, I went back home to Bangladesh as usual. Out of a sudden, I was told by my parents and the other relatives that I will have to marry someone whom I have never met before. I tried talking, crying and begging but it did not convince any of them. I tried to even talk to the groom, but then I got to know that he was the culprit who started the wedding conversation with my parents and ended up brainwashing them. All the wedding preparations was taking place within that 3 weeks break. On the eve of my engagement I ran away. My friends helped me to get the flight ticket from Dhaka to Kuala Lumpur.

I was so confused because I have always visioned myself finishing my studies and was not planning to get hitched until I am independent. Yes, I was very privileged to study abroad but all my dreams shattered during that break.​ I did contact my parents once I have touched down Malaysia but they were still very angry with me since I have broke the family honor. I didn't return back ever since then.
Thus, I came back to my routine life continue studying. Half way through the semester I was financially down I have stopped receiving any allowance/ financial supports from my family. I have no relative here as well. I was so broke, couldn't even afford a meal. My hostel and university payments were all overdue. Then I made my mind to skip that semester to work. I worked at a nearby restaurant to payoff all my debts. I had an outstanding payment of RM8 500 which I have managed to pay off while working. Due to the pandemic, the restaurant I have been working have shutdown.

 I just have 1 year to finish my entire degree. Once I am done, I will be qualified to get a proper job and will be able to start my life on my own. I wish to get help from my family but it is not safe for me anymore since honor killing is very common within my community. Please do help me to graduate. Even a small contribution will change my entire life.
