Who is YCK?

Yayasan Chow Kit is a non-profit organization that caters to the need of children in and around the area of Chow Kit. Over the years, our operation has expanded to different areas of Kuala Lumpur as well. We aim to protect and champion the rights of all marginalized children and youth, provide ​them with safe havens, and expose them to as many positive and holistic opportunities as possible to enable them to reach their full potential.

We run two drop-in centers in Chow Kit and one safe home for children who are in need of temporary guardianship. The children center “Pusat Akitiviti Kanak- Kanak” caters to children from age 7-12 and our teenage center known as “KL Krash Pad” welcomes youths from the ages of 13-18. All the centers provide food, age appropriate facilities and programs designed based on 5 pillars of the followings: Education, Psycho-Social, Sports & Health, Spirituality and Recreational.

WHY ARE WE STARTING THIS BABY HEALTH FUND?

We offer support to families who need help to take care of their infants as well. Many of our clients are from the marginalized and low-income community in Kuala Lumpur hence they might not have access to the best pre-natal care during pregnancy. More often than not, they only realized that their infant needs immediate medical care after they are born. When such cases are referred to us, our only option is to reach out to our generous donor for additional support as it is challenging for us to gather such huge amount of money in a short period of time. 

The stress and desperation to the parents who do not have the means to pay for their babies'care are unimaginable. Some are refused treatment when funds are unavailable. Some take their babies out of the hospital prematurely for fear that they cannot pay the fees. YCK's motto is "Every Child Matter", and we will fight to help every case that is brought to our attention. Your support will give them the opportunity to grow up and thrive.
