About Appeal

Dear Friends of The Red Pencil,

We are preparing a 6-month art therapy program to support the rehabilitation of women affected by burns and gender-based domestic violence in Chennai, South India. This programme is being planned in collaboration with PCVC, after a 3-Step arts therapy mission was implemented last year and showed great results for these women’s recovery and reintegration.

This longer programme would therefore allow us to reach close to 200 women and their children who witnessed the violence inflicted upon the former, and more specifically aims to:

  • Enhance their self-esteem and self-worth through creative experiential art therapy processes;
  • Help them discover a sense of grounding, strength, safety and decrease their level of isolation;
  • Empower them to voice their views, messages and stories as an advocacy initiative to affect change.

We are also planning on working with the PCVC caregivers who are exposed to fatigue and will need further training and support.

In order to make this project a reality, we need to raise 25,000 USD within the next month.

·    50 USD will provide art materials for one beneficiary for the entire duration of the programme

·    175 USD will provide a comprehensive 6-month arts therapy programme for one beneficiary

·    1,750 USD will provide a comprehensive 6-month arts therapy programme for ten beneficiaries

·    5,000 USD will provide art materials for 100 beneficiaries for a 6-month arts therapy programme

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for giving these women a chance to move on towards a brighter, hopeful life. It would mean even more to us if you could kindly forward this fundraising page to your family, friends, loved ones and encourage them to share it with as many people as possible.
