My Story

I will be taking part in 2012 SingTel Race Against Cancer in 22/07/2012 and aiming to raise money for Singapore Cancer Society. :: RON AGAINST CANCER :: I run for 4 brave overcomers. The first is a young boy of less than ten years, who braved needles and tubes and major brain operations to remove a tumour the size of a golf ball from his head. By the grace of God this lovely child is still living breathing running dancing laughing and playing golf. (: The other is my dad, who was diagnosed with last stage nasal cancer two years back with a 10% chance of survival, who has since survived a torturous season of radio-therapy and chemo-therapy. He is now able to eat, speak and walk, contrary to what the doctors had predicted initially. The emotional and psychological pain was overwhelming at that time, but more overwhelming is the very grace and mercy of God that has sustained him. The third cancer warrior has passed on to be with the Lord. He was an elderly man who was big-hearted, generous, and a loving father and grandfather. At his wake you know he has left behind a lasting legacy, from what you hear from the eulogies. It was painful watching him shrink in his last few days in the hospital, but faith in God is knowing that He is now Home with the Lord who has the ultimate victory over death, and our separation is but temporary. The lady I'm running this race for is in the midst of the battle, and she is truly a woman of God who has provided much wise counsel in times of difficulty and rebellion, and who truly gives, and gives, and gives. In her times of pain she still offers comfort to those around her, and if she can endure such pain and still focus on His goodness, surely we can too. The emotional/ psychological/ physical pain and financial burden of cancer can be lessened with support of groups like the Singapore Cancer Society. So as I train for the race on July 22, I hope you can offer some help to the many, many cancer warriors awaiting help. Through simplygiving.com you can make safe and secure donations to sponsor me. The proceeds of your support are immediately sent directly to my charity. My page allows you to follow my progress; share it with friends; voice encouragement or even join me and get involved yourself! Please dig deep and donate, every bit counts! Blessings, Sharon
