Ironman 70.3 Philippines 2015 fundraiser in aid of MAKNA - Majlis Kanser Nasional (National Cancer Council)

My Story

Thank you for visiting my campaign page.

I'm sure each and everyone of us knows of someone who's had a brush with cancer, a dreaded diagnosis which can strike anyone at all, at any age in life. Recovering and surviving from cancer requires extensive treatment modalities, a highly coordinated medical team effort as well as staunch support from family and friends. MAKNA's purpose is "to pool and utilise all efforts, expertise and finance of all sectors of the society, to fight cancer and reduce related pain, morbidity and the suffering that cancer patients undergo"

I am an anaesthesiologist currently employed at a hospital in Sabah, Malaysia. On 2 August 2015, I will be one of 2400 triathletes competing in what is reputed to be the most popular triathlon race in the Asia Pacific region - the prestigious Ironman 70.3 Philippines 2015 on the beautiful island of Cebu. To be considered an official finisher of this race, participants are required to complete a total distance of 113 km (70.3 miles) which is made up of a 1.9 km swim followed immediately by a 90 km bike ride and finally ending with a 21.1 km run, all of which are to be successfully completed within 8 hours and 30 minutes. Though it will not be my first time attempting this race distance, it will be a very special race for me as I will be competing to raise funds for MAKNA - Majlis Kanser Nasional (National Cancer Council).

Please help me support MAKNA by donating through this official campaign. If we manage to achieve my set campaign target of RM5000, I will personally contribute an additional RM200 and if I manage to beat my previous personal best 113 km time of 6 hours 49 minutes, I will contribute another RM100.

This campaign will close on 9 August 2015, exactly a week after the completion of this race.

On behalf of MAKNA, I thank you for your support and for your kind contribution.

*UPDATE 4 AUGUST 2015*
I have successfully completed the race last Sunday with a time of 7 hours 21 minutes and 26 seconds. It wasn't a personal best time but I'm thankful of being able to complete it within the cut off time since the conditions were much tougher than expected on that day. Thank you so much to each and everyone that has donated so far. We are really close to reaching our goal of RM5000.
